I loved the Airmoto that I bought from Amazon:
https://a.co/d/0VuXNGu

Until I discovered that it wouldn’t charge from a USB-C power source. The charge indicator didn’t flash, nor advance from red to yellow, much less green.

I checked the manual to see if I had to do something beyond simply plugging a live USB-C plug into the Airmoto’s USB-C jack. Found nothing.

So I bought a 2nd Airmoto from Amazon. When it was delivered I returned the 1st one.

I’ve used the 2nd Airmoto for awhile, but I’ve now discovered that it won’t charge either.

Back to the manual for a CLOSE reading, but found nothing. So my question to you: Is it necessary to do something beyond inserting a live USB-C plug into the Airmoto’s USB-C jack?

Never had a problem with mine. Have charged via a 12v cigarette charger in the car & multiple wall plug bases.
I think I've only used USB-A to C cords, never a C to C cord.

Reminds me I need to pull it out & check the charge on it.

What I bet you're witnessing is one of the major shortcomings of USB-C.

USB-C is both a charging standard and a connector type. True USB-C charging is a negotiation between the charger and the device being charged. Poorly implemented devices only have the connector and lack the hardware to perform this handshake. They won't charge off of a USBC to USB-C charger.

A quick google says that early Airmotos were not fully USB-C compliant, so that's probably what you're experiencing.

I bet it will charge just fine if you use a USB-A charger with a USB-A to USB-C cable.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Thanks for that info. Unfortunately, I no longer have a USB-A power source.

Oops – maybe my Genesis G70 has one.

But, if so, a hassle, so I’ll keep sending them back until I get one that changes with a USB-C power source. New ones come with a charge that lasts me for several months.

^^^^^^
My G70 does have a powered USB-A jack. I plugged a USB-A - USB-C cable into it then inserted its USB-C plug into the Airmoto. And, by God, the damned thing began changing.

A mention of that requirement in the manual would’ve been decent.

Thanks, but that link doesn’t work for me. A copy and paste didn’t either.
