Attended a pull at a county fair once and with permission I was photographing from the K-rail track side... until one blew about 20 feet away from me. Eek Spent the rest of the show back in the stands.

Huge amount of work and money up in smoke... eh, too bad for the pros but they know the risk. It's when Roscoe Jr. blows up Daddies farm tractor in the Farm Stock class that the shit really hits the fan for Jr. I've seem that more than once.

I remember being a kid and watching the "stock" tractor pull at our agricultural fair, and seeing one tractor put a piston into the rafters.

What stuck out the most is how it went from so loud to so quiet in that split second.

Did that 2nd monstrosity in the 1st clip. Have x5 V8s stacked in a row?! I know zero about these things but good lord!

It was like Tim the Tool Tim Taylor decided it needed more horse power!

About it a minute into the 2nd clip, a tire comes off and goes rolling down the track. You can hear people yelling, "Look out!"

Hahahaha.

The "How Far Can I Launch My Engine Block" event is interesting...

I haven't been to a truck/tractor pull since I was a little one and they looked nothing like those machines. I have been to many NHRA events and seen more than my fair share of nitro engines exploding.

When I was younger and naive, I used to believe that's what a "blown engine" referred to. Smile

Spectacular images.

NHRA drag racing resumes this weekend at Indy. There's always plenty of 10,000 horsepower blower explosions.

Many years ago I was at the State fair and watching the tractor pulls. Then I heard a familiar/awesome sound, and up pulled a tractor with an Allison Aircraft engine in it. What a beautiful sounding engine!!
