I got 3 today actually..not because I've always been wanting one, but since I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, they use them for sighting in the equipment to keep the radiation on target. Luckily I was diagnosed early and after 28 treatments I will hopefully be clean. Fingers crossed.

Be thankful for your health friends. You never know when something like this may show up. Be sure to get regular PSA tests.

I got those same kind of tattoo's back in 2020. They also supplemented the targeting with gold fiducials. Wishing you the best with the radiation therapy.

Welcome to the club. Sorry you had to join. Got the tats. I also got the 3 gold fiducial markers inserted. With the price of gold hovering at $4K, I now have a very valuable prostate. Just finished 20 sessions of IMRT last week. Fun stuff. Got the T-shirt.

Hang in there. You got this. If you haven't yet, stop by MCC, knowledge abounds.

coloradohunter44 - kick cancer's ass!

My Dad went through that 20ish years ago. Radiation every business day for 8 weeks - about half focused on known cancer and other half was more regional for unknown cancer. During that 8 weeks and a little after, he said food was wildly unpredictable as mild things such as the BRAT diet made him vomit but would be fine with things that'd ordinarily give him diarrhea.

{knock on wood} He's been in remission ever since.

You just did. Every day on the right side of the grass is a win. I've got so many mets, the Doc writing the report didn't bother to list them all. Enjoy each day to the fullest you can. I've gone through 6000 rounds of ammo since Nov 1. That's my guilty pleasure (along with 2-inch T-bones). Big Grin

All the best, hopefully trending up for you. I recently went through some of this, PSA north of 20.

I decided I’d take the fast track to a prostrate biopsy. I don’t think mid evil torture would be much worse. Mine came out benign, meds, No real biggie.

Yes, get the PSA test every so often, an early indicator of potential trouble. For some reason I had a 25 year gap.

So…out of curiosity, where exactly do they put these tattoos for a prostate cancer treatment?

Fingers crossed for you, BTW.

The three tattoo dots, and the three Calypso markers which are inserted at three separate locations in the prostate, are used by the radiation delivery device to double-triangulate the accurate delivery of the radiation emitted from the machine.
