Coroner IDs man fatally shot during burglary

SEE VIDEO AT LINK

UPDATE, 1:45 p.m.: Coroner Leon Jones has identified the man that the sheriff's office says was shot to death by a fellow burglar Monday morning.

He is James Robert Young, age 41.

Jones said he pronounced Young dead on the scene.

The second burglar is still unidentified.

Check back with 13WMAZ.com for updates on this story today.

-----------------------------------

The Bibb County sheriff says one burglar accidentally shot and killed a second this morning at an East Macon home.

Sheriff David Davis says it happened around 10 a.m. at 152 Bradstone Circle, off Millerfield Road.

He says the woman who lives there woke up to find two men in her house.

When she yelled, the men ran out, but one fired a shot over his shoulder at her. Instead, he hit the other burglar in the head.

The dead man has not been identified, and so far, there is no description of the shooter.

We'll update this story when more details are available at 13wmaz.com

Brilliant plan by surviving burglar to ensure that deceased burglar will not decide to sing like a canary later on. Well played, sir.

Felony murder rule? Why? He's the one who actually shot him.

Felony Murder vs. involuntary manslaughter / negligent homicide... ie a higher charge.

Not sure what the laws are in that state...

Segura riffs on the TV show 'The First 48'. (starts about a minute in...)

Pretty funny.

A fleeing felon poses a risk. People question why a fleeing suspect should/can be shot in the back. Here's why.

Felony murder is a rule of vicarious responsibility. All who participate in the crime resulting in a death are responsible for murder, whether they pulled the trigger or not.

If you are the triggerman, you are guilty of murder anyway, all assuming the other elements of murder are present.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown
