So this is this latest results for those seeking to escape something:
"In 2020, Boise had more congestive traffic than Atlanta, Chicago, Portland, San Diego, Boston and more.

TomTom's rankings covered 416 cities across 57 countries on 6 continents."

LA has come to Idaho!

Any good-sized city (Boise is ~240,000, actually about twice what I thought,) is going to have traffic congestion at times. It gets really bad around 8:00 with all the limousines.

I'm sure Boise has grown quite a bit in the past decade.

However, I'd chalk up 2020 traffic patterns to the fact that of the cities mentioned, all were shut down due to Covid. Whereas, Boise probably was a little more open and free to roam by comparison.

I traveled to LA for work a couple of times last year. What usually took 40-60 minutes with traffic at peak rush hours, only took 25 minutes because highways were wide open.

Agreed with Russ.
Houston traffic (at least from N Houston to IAH & reverse) has been Covid-light for a while now. The few days I commute to work have been fairly blissful compared to pre-Covid traffic levels.

@ LS1 GTO, Of course it's not everyone, but stereotypes don't develop without a cause.

I've lived in Nevada for forty-five years. I'm a Nevadan. I came here from Pennsylvania yet never wanted to make NV like PA.

In my experience after meeting many CA transplants the overwhelming majority identify as Californians. Their driving habits and "How-we-do-it-in-California" attitude has worn thin with me. I'll ask them, "If it was so great there what are you doing here?" The predominant answer has something to do with how much it's changed from what it used to be. Of course, they don't recognize the irony of trying to change "here" to "there".

If this doesn't apply to everyone I'm glad to hear it, but it does apply to too many here in Las Vegas. When I see someone doing something "Californish in traffic" it's damn near a guarantee they have CA plates.

^^^^^^ There is a reason for the coining of the word "Californication". You can move a Liberal out of California, but you can't take the Liberal out of them.

Boise has more traffic than Atlanta? Wow, you must have some serious parking lots on the freeways.

About 50 of my family moved to that region of Idaho in the past 2 years. They were the family that didn't leave California back in the 80's and 90's. You're welcome. I live in Alaska now, because californians ruined Oregon and most of Idaho. They are like a plague.

I traveled to Emmett to visit an ailing grandparent a few years ago (2015 I believe). I'm pretty sure Boise started at the Oregon border and continued all the way to Mountain home. Nuts how many people living in subdivisions there now. All that farm and ranch land is gone.

Left lane squatting at any speed needs to be a felony with a mandatory jail sentence and vigorously enforced. That would solve most of our traffic problems. Call me crazy.

Far too generous. I'd think the first offense should only result in a severe beating. Second offense should just be castration. With a dull shovel. Make it as painful as possible. Third offense is just too much. Slow learners should just be shot. They're slow learners and too stupid to block our roads. But move their junk off the road before shooting them. I know, I'm far too liberal and nice about it.

Here is an idea:

Take two major interstates and make them merge into each other for a mile or two, then split them near another interstate next to an airport.

You also have to route both of them near the fewest attractions/stadiums/arenas of any kind in a way that the taxi & limo driver lobbyists would approve.

Then you would have: Atlanta. That place hasn't been right since Sherman burned it.

Fixed it. And FYI, my drive to work increased from ten minutes to over 20 minutes, rural home is now within the Boise City limits plus a 30% increase in property taxes. The realtors are touting the 17.9 % increase in housing prices from 2019 as some kind of 'good'! The homeless are on the uptick and they are NOT destitute. They just can't afford renting or buying a home!

LA has come to Idaho!

I was born and raised in Idaho, still have family there. I can say with complete confidence that the anti's have been there for a long time.

Check into how much land has been purchased by out of staters! One area of several 1000 acres was purchased by an "outsider" and promptly posted against trespassing.
