"Back from the pile" as George Carlin used to say.

The other night my father lost a hearing aid in the shed where we were working on something. After moving tons of stuff looking in the shed, looking outside, in the house, in the garage, in the driveway, in the road.. I found it laying on the floor right in front of the work bench, where we'd both looked a half dozen times each.
I think the universe is far more complicated that we realize, or it or our brains is far more mischievous than we know.

Something's up. Recently I found a lost metric socket not five minutes after returning home with a replacement. Where was it? Right where it should have been in my toolbox, where I had looked half a dozen times.

The day I unboxed the CPAP machine, I lost my knife. Definitely NOT in the box. Just disappeared into thin air.

My best lost and found story:

I’m 16, home alone, sitting on the garage floor working on my bicycle. I set a wrench down, go to pick it up, and it’s gone. I pull the car out of the garage as well as anything else that was on the floor. I sweep the entire garage floor and the wrench is not there. I put everything back, go to the workshop in the basement to grab another wrench, go back into the garage and there’s the missing wrench, right on the floor where I set it down in the first place.

Glad you found your dog tags.

So glad you found it. Last week one of the shows I listen to on the Catholic Channel on satellite radio was playing a rerun from June 13 which is St Anthony of Padua’s feast day.
They talked about a cute little prayer I had never heard before.

“Tony, Tony look around something has been lost and can’t be found.”
They had folks calling in about stories of things they had lost and St. Anthony had helped them find.

I had already said one prayer to St. Anthony for you when you had posted this originally and I posted the picture of him but thought I would give the new prayer a try when I heard it later in the week.

So glad that you have found them!!!

I’m glad it turned up. Buying a replacement always works for me, too. Wink
