Any brown bear fans? Fat bear week voting has begun for Katmai National Park. Just a fun thing for bear lovers. Some really hefty bears there getting ready for hibernation by gorging on salmon. Bear 747 is estimated to be around 1400 pounds.

Brooks Falls is famous for bear watching when salmon are running and jumping the falls. Bear 480 Otis was observed one afternoon to have eaten 42 salmon he caught that day. Female bear 128 "Grazer" is well known as probably the fiercest bears at the park going after even the largest dominant male bears if they get too close to her cubs.
