Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
Not counting business purposes. I paid $100 to have a cylinder head shipped from Maryland to Kentucky about 12 years ago. Other than that I think when I paid $32 to have my skid plate shipped for the Expedition. Today I paid $65 to have 2 skid plates shipped. Got a shipping quote for a set of Slee Sliders today as well and that quote was $279. So if anyone happens to be passing through Golden Colorado towards the Kentucky area feel free to let me know. I’ll at least buy you dinner!!!! HA! ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. I've shipped cars. All depends on the mileage and availability. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

It wasn’t personal but I racked up a bill of about $20,000 to get a water pump from Portland Oregon on to a crab crab boat that was about 300 miles out of Dutch harbor out to sea, got it there in about a day and a half.

I once had a hydraulic piston and rings for my 76mm cannon delivered by C130, air dropped, from an airplane to a moving ship while on a heading of Twice. During the first drop, the parachute failed to deploy and that piston made it all the way thru the drop can and on to Davey Jones’ locker about in the middle of the Atlantic. Aircraft made a large circle and dropped the second one right on us. (Unknown to me, the skipper told the aircraft to drop it on us and not in the water) worked fine that time. The part was around a grand The cost of a flight crew for a 1500nm flight one way - ??? We got the gun working in an hour or less after that. Met our Navy Squadron and sailed to the Adriatic where the US was dropping ordnance onto Yugoslavia on Kosovo troops IIRC- could be the other way around. My employer won't ship guns when they move us so I've paid to have all of my guns and ammo shipped. I don't remember the amount, but it was worth it. As far as professionally, I managed the design and fabrication of a 1400 ton o&g module. It was fabricated in Lower 48 and shipped to Alaska's North Slope. Self-propelled module transporters (SPMTs) at both fab yard and destination, took up the whole barge, always had 1 tug and sometimes had more. I cannot divulge the cost, but if I could there would be a chorus of damns. I UPS overnighted an exhaust system from California to Washington. UPS NDA was guaranteed to deliver by 12 noon. I knew our driver delivered daily between 12:45 and 13:00. You could set a watch by it. I knew it would be free shipping. Had he arrived before 12:00, I would have been out about $250. The “lol” thread

$500 to have my repaired car shipped back to me from Colorado Springs to Dallas. I'd driven to there and had an accident, rented a car to complete my vacation, drove the rental home (extra fee) and then had my car shipped to me. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Wasn't THE most expensive, but this was certainly the worst value for the money. $900 to have a Porsche 911 shipped from Louisville to the Seattle area. Swear that driver took the filthiest route to get that car from there to here. Took a week to get that car presentable, but for a couple of months afterwards I was still finding remnants of that overland trip in crevices and nooks around that car. Lesson learned for the next time to pay extra to hire a truck with an enclosed trailer, about a $200-300 premium. The two subsequent hauls were the most expensive. -MG

090 heading would be due east. 000 is to the north. We had a 100% tarif on all items crossing the border in Iraq. It was the Iraqi's way of thanking us for helping them out. To bring in equipment tho help them, they charged the full cost of the part. So, a MX-20 FLIR ball came with a 1.5 million dollar tag as part of the shipping. We've been doing some loads of masks and medical supplies, some of which ran in the 2.5 million range to ship. I know the title of the thread is how much did you pay...it's a bit more than I have in my pocket, but in this case, someone else paid and I hauled. I've done a lot of weird deliveries in which someone else footed the bill in the several-million dollar range. I've paid typically fifty to several hundred bucks to ship stuff, but I'm cheap, and for me, eighty bucks to send some twinkies and a shirt to my son in Argentina was steep. He really loved the twinkies, though. I shipped a Shorts Skyvan a few years ago, after breaking it down for a pallet. It cost about ten and grand, including rental of the container, and a pallet. The other alternative was to fly it back, which would have ended up costing more.

The last pistol I shipped was $130 I once sold a set of MACK factory service manuals on Ebay (two big giant loose leaf notebooks). A guy in Australia asked if I'd ship them there. I said if you pay, sure. He bid and paid $60 for the books and $120 to ship them... and was THRILLED to do so. He sent me a thank you letter in the mail and actually photographs of his trucks lol, _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.
