I haven’t really looked at mine yet, but with a one piece tub shower setup it’s hollow behind it, a gap to get to a stud?
My wife would love a handrail but I’m not sure if it will work on ours.

Where did you install your bar? In front under the shower head/controls? On the wall facing the shower entry? And did you observe the recommended 33 to 36" height?

If you’re facing the controls, the bar was installed on the right wall, the left wall is glass & the back wall is glass. And yeah it’s at 36”.

They make suction handrails for showers, properly installed they should do well.

Be careful as the suction cups don't work well on many surfaces such as cultured marble. Suction cup device must be applied to smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces and are not load bearing.
