Some law books from the XIXth Century.

A very rare 4001C64FGLH, equal to the one used by Paul McCartney from “Rubber Soul” until the mid-80s. And yes, the bass IS left-handed.

Two things stand out for me..

The first is a First Day of Issue stamp that flew on the Challenger space shuttle. It is one of 250 that made the trip and I was lucky enough to win the lottery to get one. It was only about $15 if I remember correctly.

The second is the flag that was presented to me upon my father's death in 1969. I fly it on special occasions.

I have a 2006 Fender Custom Shop Robin Trower Stratocaster personally autographed by Robin Trower.

Trower isn't a show-off. He lets his music speak for him. He signed the guitar on the rear of the headstock, right about the factory "signature."

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I recently inherited a pair of German binoculars my Grandfather brought back from WWII while he was serving with the 103rd division. Even cooler was I found his papers signed by an officer approving him bringing it home. Before that it was his Browning A5 16ga he would use when we hunted squirrels.

A guitar I bought from Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1979 in Austin, TX for $350. It’s a ‘61 Les Paul (“SG”) that he altered significantly, but didn’t care for. It’s one of my favorites, in spite of provenance.

Pocket knife made with the scales of a European Horse Chestnut planted by George Washington, one of 13 to represent the colonies, along Faquier Street in Fredericksburg, VA. George planted them to shade his mother and sister as they walked between their houses, and this tree was the last survivor, preserved for years by the National Park Service and finally dying I believe in the 1980s or 90s and reclaimed.

I have one of the American flags that was flying on Saddam Hussein’s castle the day they tore his statue down. I believe there was only 6 or possibly 8 of them.

About two years ago, I received my fathers basic training yearbook and a scrapbook his high school girlfriend kept when he was stationed in Germany. The girls mother had kept them for forty years. She found them after her mother had passed. Dad has been gone nearly 20 years. What a wonderful gift.

After much consideration given to my rapier wit and ultra-cute dog (Golden/corgi mix), I would have to say my father's Marlin. The nod almost went to his Colt Python, but his essence from years of field use is imbued in the Marlin, and I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Not so cool to others, but ultimate Steve McQueen to me.
