For those of you that know Australian Cattle Dog personalities, you will know that they attach strongly to one individual, even in a household with multiple folks, and everyone else is just collateral. I've told my wife this multiple times but this weekend Jelly proved it to her.

My wife has commented on several occasions recently how she thinks its gross that Jelly will make her way to the bathroom when she hears me turn off the water and will lick my toes, ankles, shins a bit until I thank her for her help and dry off with the towel.

I've told my wife this is her way of being in a relationship with me and taking care of me and would do the same if her theoretical puppies got wet.

This weekend my wife was taking a shower and I was petting Jelly in the bathroom, when she turned it off she put her foot on the edge of the shower, Jelly sniffed it and walked away LMAO!

I told my wife, you gotta earn that...

The way she looks at my wife:

She's a good dog though for sure:

10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

My mother-in-law has had multiple ACDs, has 3 right now.
A couple have been very social, but she's had a few that were very much 'her' dogs. To the point 1 bit a friend of hers, completely unprovoked, twice & had to be put down.

Cattle Dogs can be like that but ours was a great family dog. One of the best dogs we've ever had, but it took a hell of a lot of training and socialization to get her there.

We adopted her when she was 8 months old at Paws in the Pines, a big rescue adoption event in Flagstaff. The whole family, me the ex-wife, daughter and our Akita Ringo were there. Loved that little dog and she loved us. Walked all over Flagstaff and had lunch at an outdoor cafe and she was a fantastically well behaved dog. Took her home, the next night the in-laws came over for dinner and she turned into Cujita! Incredibly overly protective of the house and family that just adopted her.

It took a while to work through that and get her socialized. She was always great with the family but did not like people coming into her house. We leashed her when people came to the house and worked really hard at socializing her. Like I said she needed up being one of the best dogs we've ever had. That said, she would fuck with my ex-wife's step dad. He was afraid of dogs and she knew it, would constantly back him into a corner. Not aggressive about it at all, just kind of herded him, absolutely hilarious to watch.

One of the best dogs I’ve had. She ruled the household. I did rescue and she would train each one of the rescues. Amazing dog. VERY independent, but loved to snuggle and was devoted to us. I don’t know how many people tried to convince me to give her to them over the years. She lived ~ 17 years..

Having had three and currently a heeler mix. Yea that is a chuckle for sure. My previous female loved me like I walked on water. She was loyal as loyal can be. I miss her. "I miss you Girlie."
And yes, that is the look.
I love JellySmile
