Sounds like you need to find a daily allergy med that keeps you on a good level when everything is blooming and in the air, then add a separate med (Sudafed) that has pseudoephedrine only when needed. Check with a pharmacist.
While Claritin is classified as a second generation allergy med (same as Zyrtec, Xyzal and Allegra), many long time allergy suffers have switched to nasal sprays (Nasacort, Flonase, Astepro, etc) for their daily allergy med; I switched years ago and found them to be much more effective.

Agreed, I don't take it daily, generally only when symptoms get to the point that nothing else will work.

I have Singular that I take nightly per physician, and as noted earlier Aller-Flo which is the Kirkland (Costco) brand of Flonase.

The occasional bad no air days when the sinus shuts down hard get a squirt of Zicam OTC nose spray gel, this stuff works great for immediate relief.

The D stuff is for the "tough" days

Good to know about, I've seen it but, haven't considered it. I've used their cold remedy homeopathic meds, which has been more good then no change.
Fortunately this season, I'm not suffering like many others around me. Not sure if I can attribute that to my nasal spray, good eating or, my body has figured a few things out. I'm grateful though, allergy season is just starting.

I also live in Sacramento and allergies are pretty much a year round thing here.

I got tired of doing the OTC pills and sprays and visited a ENT for a real solution...nasal sprays. The results were immediate and almost profound.

I'm currently using Budesonide (generic Rhinocort, better than Flonase) and Azelastine Hydrochloride (prescription only)

No, Daoism isn't a religion

For those that suffer from allergies, have you looked into lowering your sensitivity via allergy shots?

For me it took about a year and a half before I really noticed results but mine were really bad. I kept up with the regimen for three years and even though I stopped (moved away and just never got around to getting a new dr.), my allergies are still very much less than they were before the treatment and it's been about 15 years since my last dose.
