konata88Weber grill igniter issue - part or whole kit?
I have a Weber but the igniter is no longer clicking (at least not consistently). When I press the button, usually there is a clicking sound. But now, I usually don't get the clicking sound and the gas doesn't ignite.
I found replacement for the button/battery assembly, the spark emitters and a whole kit.
What's usually the problem here? The button only costs $20 but the kit costs $80.
Is it best to just replace the whole kit? Or is there really just a single part I can replace like the button? When I hear the clicking, both of the two spark emitters work.
Just not sure what part is broken so that I don't get the clicking....

M1GarandyMy FIL had a similar issue. The old battery had leaked and I could not save the old ignitor box.
For his Weber grill, the new kit was about $40, but I found the previous superseded P/N kit on eBay for $25.
I just changed the box for him and left the rest of the bits in the box as spares.
I presume you have already tried replacing the battery and cleaning the battery contacts?

TactIt's not the battery. It is the metal contact strip. It gets disformed and it needs a small piece of something underneath, I used a small piece of a toothpick, to push the metal strip up.

wcb6092You can get these for about $1.00. That what I have used since my igniter went out.

1s1kI just ereplaced my igniter and bought the whole kit. I’m sure I could have gotten away with just the igniter for $25 but I found the entire kit for $50. The only slightly difficult thing is getting the same screws in the same holes. Why in the hell they didn’t design it to have all the same screws is beyond me.
I couldn’t continue to use a $1.00 lighter on a $1000 dollar grill so it was a must for me.

Skins2881Usually it's either a leaking battery or water getting into the battery compartment. I have had two over thirty years, replaced 3-4 ignitors over that time. All three times it was just he button/battery. I'd roll the dice on the button kit first.
