So when the President travels abroad, like he is right now, who prepares his food for him? Not so much when he is on Air Force One, but more when he is at formal dinners, like the one tonight.

How can the Secret Service ensure that what the President is eating is safe to eat (as in no dangerous bacteria, un clean water.....) and not poisoned?

When not eating in the White House or AF1, I've always assumed secret service watches the chef like hawks and one of them eats a little bit of everything prior to POTUS. Probably have several POTUS plates made and randomly select too.

Isn't the White House chef a YUUUGE gentleman that has arms as big as my entire body??

How do they over see food prep. Do they trust the Chinese to have the food or does the SS go to random butcher shops and pick the meat themselves?

I heard they even go as far as bringing their own jet fuel.

I asked about it. I was told the Secret Service watched everything in the kitchen when it was prepared.

The big guy you’re talking about is actually an Army pastry chef at the WH.

That has to be the worst part of being POTUS. I would love nothing more than to eat street food in Vietnam on some cheap plastic stool, chased with a few beers and a smoke or two. I hate fancy food. I've eaten everything you can find on the street in China and never had the slightest stomach issues.

I believe the WH chefs are all drawn from the military. A senior chief mess specialist i was stationed with was interviewed for the WH chef position. She was not selected and ending up running a flag mess in norfolk but i always thought that it was impressive that she was under consideration for it.

I don't know if the WH chefs travel with the POTUS but I can't imagine why they would not.
