It is my hope that after this more people will come to realize just how thin the veneer of civilization really is.

Of all the stuff I really consider to be complete and total bullshit about the whole 'rona hype, this is the thing that should be recognized. While much of it is hype, this is a test run to let you know a lot of things about your preparedness, you local and state leadership, and the fellow man in your area.
We can learn from this IF we actually apply it when the heat is off.

I just got my Tech license last Sunday and have picked up a Baofeng handheld. Now I have to figure out how to use it...

David WAll you guys that want to can, buy an All American and don't look back. We have a 930, does 30 quarts at a time, I use my turkey propane stand outside.
As far as what we will do different? I will have a few more N100 respirators that aren't covered in sawdust and a gallon or two of hand sanitizer and I think we will be set.

NuclearLet's see, a good friend has a destination wedding that will most likely be postponed, so go to that. Another friend's daughter already had to postpone her wedding, we are like family to them, so go to that one as well, then there is a trip to Australia that is planned for the end of the year.
As far as preparing, more TP on hand, freeze dried food for 3 adults for say a month, water storage and purification and an alternate power system, as money and time allows.
Oh yeah, letting the dunces in our local, state and federal governments know what I think of their "we have to do SOMETHING" actions that made things worse and violated our rights.

The downward spiral of the economy has just begun. Mass layoffs across all sectors are coming if the shutdowns continue much longer.
Our SUPREME LEADER here in KY is slowly working his way up to a stay at home order. I see it coming sooner rather than later.
Sales where I work have stopped. Inquiries have stopped. People are conserving cash and not taking on debt.
So I don't see a return to normalcy coming after this passes. I hope I'm wrong.

rat2306Head down home to see the folks a little more often (6 hours away). Get a few boxes of cartridges for rifles that aren't 5.56.

icom706Nothing. Perhaps restock strategic supplies I am drawing down on, as needed. I can whine about a lot of shit, but when realistically looking at myself, I am in a lot better shape than 90 percent of the population.

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.
