nothing really so far

only thing we don't have that I wish we did is wheat flour

everything else including TP we are good with so far

we have the hurricane issue in FL so we always have plenty of stuff on hand

was in Publix this morning picking up a few odds and ends and it would SUCK not to have 'prepared' in advance

Nothing major.

Set aside more money for ammo acquisition during non panic times. We've got a decent amount in most calibers, but more is better.

Keep an extra pack of toilet paper and paper towels on hand, and also acquire a large upright freezer to keep a better selection of meat and other frozen goods.

Most of our (60lb +) dogs get a raw meat diet, so keeping enough on hand for them can be a challenge when stores are selling out. A freezer upgrade would essentially pay for itself by allowing us to buy in bulk quantities to help keep the price down.

Increase our stock of baking components. We've been talking about adding chickens to our farm, and the timing for that may get accelerated.

We live on 20 mostly wooded acres with plenty of deer, turkey, squirrel, and other critters, so if it really came down to it, we wouldn't be left wanting for food for us or for the furry beasts.

I am now giving thought (again) to picking up a hand-held Ham radio.

There have been some excellent threads here over the years discussing them, recommended models, etc., and I will search for them on the forum.

I believe I'll not be required to work quite as hard convincing friends and family to keep extra supplies on hand. It wasn't that long ago, that even my wife joked about my stash of extra TP.

I currently do the same thing with Pakistan. It's more difficult than you might expect.

The big eye opener is how much I eat out while claiming that I don't eat out that much.

It is pretty eye opening to me. Now, after the zombie hoards of the 'rona, I'll try not to forget.

I wish I could say this is likely, and if people had half a brain, I'd say you were correct, but it's not what I've observed the last few days. Maybe with smarter people, but the demographic I deal with as a cop doesn't seem to have toned down the smoking one bit. It actually kinda pisses me off, because I know that it's pretty much a given that I'm going to get this crud....and I'm counting on my healthy cardiovascular system to get me through it. The last thing I want right now is to have that compromised by breathing somebody else's secondhand smoke.

The trailer park demographic is pretty much business as usual. I had a drunk guy who'd been in a fight tell me last night that he's been drinking a lot because alcohol will " protect him from the Corona." I told him I didn't think that's how that works, but he wasn't gonna take my word for it. Meanwhile we get exposed to him and the other idiots who were out rolling around on the street in front of the trailer for no good reason. Life in the trailerhood.

Oh, I doubt it too. But I'm hopeful that pain is an adequate teacher. Only a few will be so scared that they'll quit what is a very addictive behavior. But if others pull through after a long and frightening illness, maybe they'll be sufficiently motivated.

Or not.

Impressive! I'm sure it's gonna be rough, especially with all the added stress from the current situation, but hopefully it sticks for them.

we've invested in a 20cf upright freezer. we'll buy a slab of beef and stock it up with chicken, fish and pork. if there's any room left, we'll freeze toilet paper and hand sanitizer. never again...
