Caught in a loop |
I got big, meaty hands. Finding gloves that fit has always been a serious chore. I'm looking for a pair of welding gloves (MIG specifically) that are bigger than the largest Harbor freight offerings. (Ironically the Tig gloves fit perfectly.) My issue is that the web of my thumb is larger than most. I can either have gloves that are long enough or that don't cramp my hands up.. What do you use? I'm not a professional welder, but I do weld. I use Tillman gloves. I got mine at welding supply store. https://www.amazon.com/Tillman...Medium/dp/B01M1200AG

I am not a professional welder either. But for Mig and stick welding, as well as plasma cutting, I am using (swapping between for no apparent reason) Lincoln and Harbor Freight gloves. My hands are normal size and I just wear large that works for me. I really can not suggest in your situation other than going to a much larger size.

I have large hands as well. I weld with a Miller MIG machine, not very often but occasionally. I have been using a pair of XL Miller electric welding gloves for years. They are available on Amazon. CMSGT USAF (Retired) Chief of Police (Retired)

I'm at the limit of what HF offers. Like I said, the TIG gloves feel great if a little thin. They're cheap so that's all that matters there. In all honesty it feels like the TIG and MIG gloves are probably the same outside size, but the MIG gloves have extra padding that makes them too small. TIG gloves by their very nature need to be thinner to minimize lost dexterity. I have a pair of Weldmonger TIG gloves on hand that I want to try when these give up the ghost.
This is great. Thanks. "In order to understand recursion, you must first learn the principle of recursion."

Tillman 750L for MIG here. Miller for oxy/acetylene, which I use only for bending stuff. Both are soft, a combination of suede and smooth leather. The Millers are a bit more flexible. When in doubt, mumble
