Our above the stove microwave is it's way to the rainbow bridge. It only lasted about 6 six years and is an LG. Was looking at a Frigidaire or a Bosch. We have a Bosch dishwasher and have had no issues. Just not sure what brands to avoid so any help would be great.

I have liked KitchenAid in the past, Went looking and they are substantially more money.
The figidaire we have now has a sagging door, after 12 years.

About a year ago we bought all new kitchen appliances. Whirlpool. Also have Whirlpool washer and dryer. ALL are great except our microwave. We bought the one with a touchscreen panel. The panel gives us nothing but problems. The cooking function of the oven is fine. The screen goes blank. The clock changes time on its own. Other functions of the screen work and sometimes do not. And of course this occurs after the warranty expires. If I unplug the oven then plug it in it will work again. PITA.

I have had fantastic service out of my Tappan microwave. I have owned it for at least 20+ years, and it just does it's thing on demand. I could not be more pleased with it, for I use it daily!!!

As much as I disliked our (now dead) Frigidaire refrigerator, our microwave has worked great. It's a cabinet mount, above a double-oven.
Given historical threads on appliances, though, I'd be inclined to recommend Whirlpool/Maytag/KitchenAid.This message has been edited. Last edited by: P250UA5,

Amana "commercial". No turntable technology. Ours has been great.

My parents have had 2 Panasonic’s in my life first one lasted 30 years. My house has a sharp microwave that slides under the counter, it has worked well.

Stay away from GE. My 1+ year old 1200 watt Micro works fine but the plastic is brittle and the door is cracked, and now the filter door latch broke off.

Panasonic makes great microwaves.
When our last one kicked, picked up a Samsung. Wish we would have gone Panasonic. The Samsung glass is so dark you can’t see in when it’s running. And the clock resets randomly when closing the door. Works fine, and these are the only two annoyances. Just never had this problem with two prior Panasonics.

I'm with you on the Panasonic. We've had ours for 15 years and now moving and leaving with the old house as it's sort of framed in over the oven. Has always worked great and still looks new.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Not for me. Quit during warranty. Closest repair shop two hundred miles. 70 dollars for shipping. They reimbursed half. I complained to corporate through an email and was finally reimbursed for shipping. Take your chances.
If I recall correctly bendable used to have an Amana Radarrange.

My GE above the stove microwave was 31 years old when we tossed it out during a remodel. GE is not the company it used it once was, it is now Chinese owned.
We now have a sharp draw model, built into the island that has been working fine, It is about 5 years old.

Whirlpool model WMH32519HZ is what I recommend and my best seller. The non stick interior is great for clean up and the sensor cook works very well.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I do like the whirlpool and it has better reviews than the Frigidaire.

I’d like to have a Panasonic because they have “Inverter Technology” that provides true power regulation. Most other microwaves regulate power by pulsing full-on/full-off intervals.
I don’t have one because all of their models are too big to fit into my cabinet space, and I don’t want a microwave taking precious counter space.
Serious about crackers.

Brad - that's an over-the-range model. What do you recommend for a stand-alone/countertop model?

Honestly, they are all commodities with no serviceability parts. I tell my customers that I can sell them one bt if it breaks there is no repair.
If you want durable, get either a panasonic or Amana commercial unit. They are not fancy, they are made for food service. But they are durable.
