We had wildfires go through near our lake place a couple years ago. Found a patch of wild blueberries in the burnt out forest. must stretch for 50 acres and the ground is covered with them. I picked these in about an hour. These are so good and loaded with all the good antioxidants you don't get from the grocery store farm raised plants.

Wild blueberries are the best!

Cool! I've never had the pleasure. I've had plenty of wild blackberries, but never these.

Love wild blueberries, been eating them since a toddler at my grandfathers cabin on Whitefish Bay, Lake of the Woods, Ontario. We'd make blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes, two kinds of pies, one with all baked berries and one with only part of the berries baked.

One year we traveled to several islands on a blueberry harvesting expedition. To my disappointment, they crushed the berries and attempted to make blueberry wine instead of the normal blueberry goodies. Don't know if the wine was a success.

I found they store better in bowls or jars instead of bags. The bags cause them to rub against each other. Don't wash them until just before eating or cooking with them.

They don't stay in the bags very long. I clean through them and then freeze them on a cookie sheet. Once frozen I put them back in the bag. That way they don't all clump together and you can just take out a handful if that's all you want from the freezer.

The bears know where the berries are as well seen some scat out there. Not much to worry about just make sure you make some noise so they know you're there. Not dealing with griz just black bears around here.
