They've been giving these waves of illegals with the CBP One app fast track work authorizations and issuing them SSNs. The Fed ignores a huge structural unemployment issue with our economy, this isn't a frictional unemployment issue.

My question comes before that stage. I doubt they have a person at the non-port of entry border clicking a counter like the checker in Costco to figure how many illegals have come through. Then there's the "unknown got aways."

And, now, that I've explained my question, I have these two additional thoughts.

Then, I doubt the majority of these illegals are out hitting the pavement filling out job applications, going online to Indeed.com to upload their resumes.

Then, job applicants are supposed to have a social security number to get a job.

So, I don't really know what Powell is saying. Is he using the widely known illegal immigration influx to hide the fact that unemployment numbers are going up because people are getting laid off because we really are heading into a recession but he doesn't want to spook the market?

It's really getting confusing. I hear that this was a purely political move to spike the stock market to favor Kamala. But, I also hear, if the economy is as good as Powell says it is, then why a half point drop instead of a quarter?

Around here it appears the illegals do a lot of cash basis jobs. Construction, house cleaning, landscaping, food service, etc. They do displace citizens who would be legally employed, and thus the unemployment increases. But the official number employed would not be increasing as far as the Social Security data would count.

Many of the illegals are wiring money back to their families in their home country, which removes that wealth from the US economy, which further depresses the economy. That would be a second order effect on employment.

Yeah, no duh. He just said the quiet part out loud.

What remains of our Trump built economy is what, for 4 years the biden trash has done nothing but tear down. Four years of bad policy, wars, enriching themselves, attacking a real President, covering up all their family crimes, abusing federal agency's and of late, attempting to kill a real President, it's no wonder the Amerucan economy is back sliding. In my neck of the woods, most all these illegal invaders are fully employed at good paying g Americans jobs. Driving up to $70,000.00 pick up trucks, all manner of nice vehicles. One such employers is staffed with nearly all mexicans and work them 6 X 12 hour shifts and, some weeks 7 X 12 hours. I see very pricey real estate being used by the illegal invaders as a Church. One near 300k building is right in our historic district. A neighbor called the Police when the Mexican music went on for hours throughout the area. They can worship back in their home country. Let the deportations begin.
