I understand being six years old and waking up on an empty bus.... Hmmm. Here is the story:

Tiffani O’Brien said she woke up on an empty Air Canada plane, in the dark and “freezing cold,” after a short flight from Quebec City to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, CNN network partner CTV reported.

“It’s just a sheer sense of helplessness when you feel like you’re locked on this aircraft,” O’Brien told CTV.

O’Brien “got super comfy reading my book” and fell asleep “probably less than halfway” into the 90-minute flight, she said in a Facebook post, shared with Air Canada by a friend on her behalf.

“I wake up around midnight (few hours after flight landed) freezing cold still strapped in my seat n complete darkness (I’m talking pitch black),” she said in the Facebook post, adding it was “terrifying.”

O’Brien sent a text to a friend about her predicament.

“I just woke up alone in plane,” said one text O’Brien showed CTV. “Omg.”

Her friend texted back that she called the airport’s customer service to let them know about O’Brien.

O’Brien said her phone died after she communicated with her friend, and she was able to find a flashlight in the cockpit.

“I’m so scared I’m going to touch something that’s wrong, but I knew I had to do something,” she told CTV.

She also says she managed to get the door of the plane open and was rescued by a ground crew.

The incident happened June 9, and caught the media’s attention after the Facebook post 10 days later.

O’Brien said in the Facebook post that she has recurring night terrors and is “waking up anxious and afraid I’m alone locked up someplace dark.”

When contacted by CNN, Air Canada said: “We are still reviewing this matter so I have no additional details to share, but we have followed up with the customer and remain in contact with her.”

CNN has reached out to the woman directly.

I saw this story on Fox News and I didn't believe it then, either.

I wonder, IF this story is true, what kind of drugs she was on that could put her out so hard for so long. . .

I am pretty sure this happened. What amazes me is the utter lack of common sense and judgement in terms of solving a problem like this. An elementary school kid could figure out a solution to this one.

I bet the fear comes from being trapped on a stopped escalator at the Toronto mall.

Make up a bed in first-class and let them wake me the next morning surrounded by little empty bottles of liquor and peanut bags.

Or just pop the emergency escape door and slide down. Wink

Flight Attendants are REQUIRED to perform a post-flight cabin walk-through and security check after EVERY flight and before leaving the aircraft. The Airbus would have NO LESS THAN 3 F/A's and maybe 4, depending on it being an A319, A320, or A321. I find it hard to believe the cabin crew was that derelict in their duties. I say pull all video and see how/when this moron got in the plane unnoticed...

Hell they’d probably find me in the morning drunk in the cockpit making machine gun noises as I strafe and bomb my imaginary enemy’s. Terror not so much. Childhood giddy probably.

Lav all to yourself, no one elbowing you, no bad breath, no yappy seat mate, no brat kicking the back of your seat.

Some people fantasize about such an aircraft experience.

Lawsuits for psychological trauma in similar situations tend to be rather unsuccessful. If somebody is holding a gun to your head on an airplane threatening to blow your brains out, you might have a case.

We had a young soldier in particular on one of our troop flights. They were issued one Ambien for each of the three legs. He decided if one was good, two is better, and if two is better, three was best. All at once. He slept for a looooong time.
