Yup, it was skyhigh. Have made HUGE diet changes since day1 of the first hospital visit, not sure what my a1c has dropped down to now since it's only been about 8-9 weeks but with the current meds and dietitian got to where the last 3 weeks or so I've woken up a few times at night feeling horrible and would check my blood sugar and it was as low as 54. I'd have to do the "rule of 15" sometimes more than once in a row to get it up to a safer number. One morning it took 3 times drinking some OJ to get up to 70. I feel fine if it's 70 or above. When I told my doc about it Friday morning she pulled me off the glipizide and since Froday it's stayed in the 85-90 range overnight into the morning. ________________________

Even there, done that, got the t-shirt. Back in 2008 I devloped clots in both legs, left arm and massive clots in both lungs following cardiac surgery. Thank god I was already inpatient at Mass General. Spent a month bouncing back and forth between ICU and the step down unit. My right leg is still a mess from a permanent scarred clot but everything else cleared up. Will be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. Really glad you made it. It is scary as hell. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk with someone who has been through it. "You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." - Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer")

Yikes, I most definitely have had it easy and minor in comparison there! I just started doing a nightly walk Monday night. 15 minutes at around 2-2.5mph on the treadmill. Doctor had me get a real compression sock for my right leg and it was hell getting it on (20-30mmg), but I can already feel a difference in how my right leg feels since I'd been using generic compression sock for it since I got home. I still have clotting in right foot and up the ankle, probably about 4-5" up maybe but the docs think that being more active will help, combined with the thinners I'll likely stay on forever. Glad you made it through all that! I'll definitely keep you in mind if I have any questions, thanks for the offer! - Larry ________________________
