Tiny town sheriff news , dog put down
On 06/27/24, at approximately 2:43pm, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person being bit by a dog in the 1000 block of 4th Street. Ambulance services and Henry County Deputies responded to the area.

The victim of the dog bite was treated on scene and then transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

While in the area, it was discovered the dog that was responsible for the incident was still at large. Henry County Deputies located the dog in the 900 block of 4th Street.

The dog displayed aggressive behavior in close proximity of the Deputy. To prevent further injury, the Deputy discharged his firearm fatally wounding the dog.
The Deputy was uninjured from the incident. There were no bystanders in the area of the Deputy or dog when the firearm was discharged.

Following the incident, the dog owner was contacted and briefed about the incident. This is an unfortunate incident to report and our thoughts are with all those involved.

I like dogs as much as the next guy, but one displaying aggressive/threatening behavior will put me in Condition Orange. As for an actual attack, well …

"Dispatched" is itself a euphemism.
