Got my free glasses from the VA today.

PHPaulGot my free glasses from the VA today.
Came in the mail.
Styling essentially the same as my old ones, just a tad smaller. Very light titanium frames. Photo-gray lenses. What would easily be a $3-400 pair of glasses via my regular optician.
I'm a serious dumbass for not getting my VA evaluation when I retired 30 years ago. I could have saved enough on glasses alone to buy another tractor...

mrapteam666Everyone laughs but i wish they would issue me the old BCG's and not these new hipster/skinny jeans wearing POS. (Wow I am starting to sound like my dad)
I cannot see crap out of them when I try to qualify.
I am glad that you got them and like them.

Anybody that qualifies for VA benefits. Even the 0% 'ers AFAIK.
I'm in at 10% for hearing loss, and when I inquired about eye care they said "Everybody qualifies for eye care."
RE: BCG's...that's one reason I hadn't checked earlier. When I was stationed in Iceland my eyes got bad enough to need glasses again and I got a pair of Navy issue glasses. Not quite BCG's but big, ugly black plastic things.
I wore glasses from around 2 or 3 to age 20 then the normal process of your eyes changing as you age put me in the sweet spot until I was 40 and needed glasses again.

drill sgtSir they did not give them to you for free. YOU EARNED EVERYTHING THAT THEY PROVIDE FOR YOU. And for those of us who served be it by being drafted or volunteering these were some of the benifits provided because of our service no matter the length of service be it short time / years /or full retirement from the service. As far as the looks of the frames to me is not as important to me as my being able to see clearly. Again thanks to you and all of our brothers and sisters who served. ................................. drill sgt.

cne32507I remember a loud asshole auto leasing manager berating a retired AF car salesman about the "free" medical care he received. One morning in the coffee lounge the salesman loudly called out: "Jack, Jack! I want just want to thank you for my new eyeglasses!"
We nearly rolled over laughing.

charlie12Glad you got them. I have VA glasses too. I'm close to a year and a half due for more but they kept canceling my appointment because of the virus crap.

lizardman_uI have been getting VA glasses for over eight years now.
Around here the VA does one thing good (glasses). The rest is hit or miss depending on who the primary care provider happens to be.

rexlesThe first pair I got 3yr ago came in the mail USPS packaged in what looked like what you used to get an apple turnover from Mickey Ds.
They were smashed. I couldn't even open them up. I took them to the Toledo Clinic and they straightened them.
This year when I got new ones I asked if I could just pick them up since I would probably have to come over anyway.
