Win10 PC, Brave browser takes several seconds to load a page. Firefox works fine, almost instantaneous loading, the same is true for Brave on my tablet.

I disable Brave Shields per site, no change. I have uBlock Origin and have made no changes to it to my knowledge. I reset it to default, nope.

This has gone on a while, I think maybe when I used some PC tweak product, hoping it might fix some other minor issues. It didn't, I uninstalled very quickly but it did seem to make some odd changes.

Sorry if I don't get right back, a busy day ahead.

Help, I want Brave back. Frown

Are you running a lot of extensions? Try clearing the cache.

Might try uninstalling the browser then reinstalling from a fresh download and see if that's also messed up?

Try running a scan with something like the free version of Superantispyware and see if it finds a bunch of tracking cookies, which you can then get rid of. I've occasionally noticed slow browser responses when dozens or hundreds of those cookies build up if you don't periodically remove them.

I reinstalled with a the latest version on top of the previous Brave, I didn't uninstall it first. No change.
Kind of a cautious approach, I don't have time to mess with starting new if exported settings and bookmarks have a problem.

Firefox works fine so I have that if the speed if necessary. I don't think my Brave problem is all that complicated, just gotta find it.

Brave is fine on my machines. I have the it set to delete browsing data, history, cookies, cached images and files every time I close the browser. Brave is never slow when I am using it unless my internet connection is slow. So, like Mark asked above, have you tried clearing your cache to see if that helps?

I have to no avail. I think I'll need to uninstall and reinstall on a clean slate. I can export/import bookmarks but I don't think I can trust my present settings. So that'll be a pain getting things back where I want.

If something has targeted Brave, I don't think I'd be alone with the slowdown.

If you have any passwords saved in your browser that you don't want to input again, don't forget to also export them to import after the reinstall.

Thanks, I hadn't dug deep enough how to import/export PW's. Got it now. Smile

**UPDATE**

Brave browser humming like a top. Smile

I ran chkdsk c: /f, stepped away for a while so I don't know what it fixed but something was wrong.
I guess my original suspicion that the tweak tool I tried had screwed me.

Thanks, hive, Merry Christmas.

Oh, I forgot about this. I think I need to run this as well. Been having permission issues with installing drivers.

Running CHKDSK /f /r now. Thanks.

EDIT - That fixed all my issues. Thanks for bringing it up. Smile

doesn't mean you should

Another older tool to try is defrag.
My recent computers have had solid state hard drives so I don't see much difference anymore but the older disc types it seemed to help to do more.
