I got a chuckle out of the picture. I can picture a guy in an extravagant fur coat walking westbound to Embarcadero.

Lincoln Continental on fire

A car fire on the westbound upper level of the Bay Bridge right before the Fremont exit closed three right lanes Monday morning.

"Traffic is solid from the suspension tower and will get worse," according to KCBS Traffic.

As of 8 a.m., the fire was out but lanes were still blocked and fire trucks were on the scene.

About 12 years ago or so one of my friends got married in Spearfish, SD. 3 of us were standing outside of our motel shooting the shit. Out in the parking lot I see a 1957 or so T Bird. I made a comment about a sweet looking T Bird over there. One of my friends is of Mexican decent (his father immigrated legally to the US in the 1960's).

My friend says yeah, it is sweet...What do you think, about a 78 or 79 or so? WTF??? Not that one dude, the other one!

We got a good laugh about that.

I remember a great aunt of mine had 1 just like the one in the article back in the late 70's and early 80's, but a maroon color. Man she loved that car. Makes my 67 GTO look small! The GTO is after all an "intermediate" size.

My dad had one those body style Marks with the 460ci V8, it was a two door and had been special ordered without a vinyl roof. The lack of a puffy roof made the car look longer and sleeker. I used to do the maintenance and repairs on it for him which involved picking it up from and bringing it back to the Pungo area of Virginia Beach. The drive to/from went right by Oceana Naval Air Station.

My running joke was that the hood was so much like an aircraft carrier deck that every time I drove by Oceana NAS their F-14s would try to touch down on the hood.

Not to be argumentative but I'm pretty sure that's a Mark V because of tail light placement.

Pretty sure that is a Mk 5.
The Mk 4 had horizontal taillights mounted in the rear bumper.

My dad had a Mark IV when I was in third or fourth grade. It too burned up. My dad left it running on the lawn next to our driveway. The fireman said that the catalytic convertor probably got hot enough to ignite the grass.
