My <1 year old Speed Queen DC5 electric dryer has a gremlin. Tuesday evening I put a load of clothes into it, set it to Permanent Press between More Dry and Less Dry, turned it on, and went to bed. When I woke up yesterday morning, the dryer was still running and the dial had not advanced. So it ran continuously for ~8 hours.
Luckily, the clothes inside were unharmed. (But they were certainly dry. )
Last night I tried to duplicate the issue, both by running the dryer empty as well as by running it with a similar load of wet clothes at the same setting, and both times the dial advanced as expected and the dryer cooled down and turned off as expected.
I'm less than 1 year into its 5 year warranty, but I'm hesitant to waste time calling out a service guy if I can't replicate the problem. Any thoughts on what may have caused the issue, what I should check next, or how better to try to replicate the issue? This message has been edited. Last edited by: RogueJSK,
I think I would call Speed Queen and/or the service guy and run the problem by them and the problem with replicating it. It seems unlikely you are the first person to have this experience. Sounds a little like the timer part. (WAG)
It's an interesting issue and I'm not an appliance person. I would suspect some wiring connection issues to the timer/heating element...interested in the resolution.
