Highly informative video about the situation Oregon (the focus of the video) and California find themselves in as a result of over regulation and environmental activism.

I apologize for two things: the fact that there’s an AI element to this (but it appears incidental) and the use of the “F” word in the video title. Still, I think the storyline is factual.

Very interesting! Thanks for posting.

Those states will get what they want...and deserve.

He mentioned Anacortes, WA and Martinez, CA; two ports I used to sail into.

Here in Nevada we're reliant on CA for over 80% of our gasoline, I read recently our excellent Governor is working to get new pipeline(s) from Utah, very exciting news.

absolutely correct. Both NW states. Once wonderful places have let the coastal elites embed themselves in the major cities and turned their states against them.

Wa. gas prices are worse than Or. But both are ridiculously high. I know it is not a popular thought here. But my take is that eventually those cities will eat themselves and the states will be returned to the people.

Leftists are so illogical.
They think they are helping the environment by shutting down refineries and refusing to allow new refineries. They actually harm the environment by causing the refined product to have to be moved great distances, often by rail or truck which is very inefficient.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

But not surprising! Why would anyone think that anti-energy policies would lead to anything other than shortages and cost increases? Besides, I think there are many so-called environmentalists that are salivating at the thought of $10/gal. gas prices. If anyone thinks that this is a side effect, think again, it is completely intentional. If it bankrupts those Conservative Neanderthals who persist in driving their huge pickup trucks to the shooting range, so much the better.

40% of California fuel comes from India. Freaking India!

This topic is a bit of a hobby of mine. I work in the electric utility side of things but with major industrial customers in CA.

The bottom line is that CA's energy policy is disastrous and fair tale in nature. It ignores costs at almost every turn.

I found a great video from California Insider a week ago talking about the pending doom of CA refineries and the likely cost to consumers.

Experts Warn Trouble Ahead for California With Refinery Closures

A thoughtful discussion on refineries and impacts of California's energy policy on consumers, national defense, and the economy.

Due to California's energy policies,
1) we import gasoline from India, who refines Russian crude oil? Remember that little skirmish between Russian and Ukraine?
2) significant national defense locations depend of Jet A fuel from California refineries, many of which are shutting down.
3) we are producing less and less of our own fuel in this state, subjecting ourselves to the whims of foreign countries and negatively impacted fuel prices in CA, NV and AZ.
4) 85% of cars in CA still use fossil fuel. Demand for gasoline isn't going away anytime soon, regardless of what laws CA legislature passes.
5) if CA doesn’t change its energy policies, the Feds may do it for them (and well beyond Trump's remaining 3 years in office, so spare the TDS).

India imports around 80% of their oil, principally from Russia and Gulf States.
Russian oil is 'supposed' to be sanctioned yet, we (Western US) are paying not just India but, Russia's margins for their oil sales?!?

So all the lefties in CA say "Stand with Ukraine" while simultaneously voting for crappy energy policies that force us to buy refined fuel products from India, who purchases Russian oil, which funds Russia's war......on Ukraine.

Am I missing something?

From an environmental standpoint, everyone on the planet breathes the air and not any more air is being made. I guarantee the world's air would have been better off with what is emitted from an refinery in the USA versus what actually was emitted from a refinery in India.

Not immune in the Midwest. In WI the lefty Gov increased the silliness from Doyle years ago with mandates on ‘green’ or renewable energy. These mandates often result in higher energy costs, higher rates of increase over normal inflation.

The mandates increase costs, Dems answer for that, limit power bills as a percentage of income. Sounds ok to the low informed, keeps you as a slave to Gov’t price controls.
