4MUL8RQuestion on Selling and Purchasing a Firearm in Person
Simply offer financing yourself. 90 days same as cash. He puts money in escrow. You keep rifle. You agree not to sell for 90. Day 91 the rifle is back on the market.

lymanhad that happen once, on a Gunbroker sale,
not a firearm, but some part or ammo, (don't recall which)
dude did not tell his wife what he had bought so she filed the report with the CC,
which went thru,
however I was fortunate , he did send me cash to cover the purchase,
years ago, (for clarity, I am a FFL) we had a CC processor that decided to decline a purchase for a $3500 Colt 1911, because it was a manual entry,
all legally done, but the processor was anti gun, (we did not know that at the time we signed with them)
and again, I was fortunate to have the buyers number, and he was sorry we had to deal with suce a fucked up company,, and mailed us a check (which was good) after they, the CC, refused to process the transaction

BoatsNbulletsI paid for my gf’s pistol and she did the paperwork. Not a straw purchase.

Timdogg6Sounds like a bad idea.
He ain't got the money, he ain't got the money.
I'm not doing legal gymnastics on a gun purchase.

Totally agree! After all, that's why God created the ATM!

PerceptionI see you already declined the sale, but to add to it there's no way I would have gone through with that. Too much BS for what should be a simple transaction, and he's trying to turn his problems into your problem.
If he really wants it he can get a cash advance on his credit card for whatever he's short, and bring you the whole amount. That would actually be easier for both of you than what he's trying to do anyway.
Edit- I see Kev beat me to the suggestion.
