Sunset_VaWoman in Richmond shoots at panhandle who assaulted her...gets arrested.
Story here.
https://www.wdbj7.com/2022/07/...th-chair-police-say/ To me something is wrong with this picture. How did she know he wouldn't beat her to death with that chair?
Somehow this seems an example of justified self defense. Forum's opinion?

220-9erMaybe read the whole article next time and you'll see.
From the article; "Police said the woman pulled out a gun and started shooting as he ran away,"
I doubt you'll get away with that one almost anywhere.

RichardCGood thing he didn't die.
After a 1st degree murder conviction, they'd have given her the chair.

12131Don't even bother reading that stupid article that tells you almost nothing. Click on the
WWBT link in the article for just a little more details. Not only did she shoot at the perp as he ran away, she did not stay at the scene but got in her car and went after him, going the wrong way, until stopped by the police.

This woman summed it up pretty well.
quote:
“It was probably self-defense for her, but when she took it a step farther, that’s when it was overkill,” Brown said. “There is a responsibility with people who own weapons.”

BBMWIt also says charges are pending. They might actually not get filed, given that no one was hit. Given that she was assaulted, they may not want to take this one to court.
Edit: After reading the article it's a bit different. She didn't flee. She got in car and chased the attacker the wrong way down the street. This may have started as legit self defense. But she took it too far.

wcb6092The panhandler was arrested. Officers found the man, Mark Banks, 29, of Richmond, nearby and took him into custody. He is charged with malicious wounding.
Malicious wounding in VA is a felony.
