I like “y’all”, but if all y’all English speakers want to agree upon the proper second person plural, I’ll go with the consensus. However, seeing how the world is re-litigating formerly settled pronouns, I have little hope that a consensus can be reached. Black92, I've not seen a game there but do enjoy all the fireworks shows they put on. That mascot gave me a good laugh.

[QUOTE]Originally posted by jhe888: [QUOTE]Originally posted by WaterburyBob: [QUOTE]Original I had a childhood friend who was from western Pennsylvania. His family, especially his mom, used the term "you-ins". As in "How are you-ins doing?" I am not sure of the spelling, but doing my best phonetic attempt. I never thought too much about it, other than it being different, northern and fairly equivalent to y'all, youse guys, you guys, etc. .

I moved to Kentucky when my dad got transferred from Ohio. It was between my freshman and sophomore year of high school. It was the first week in my new school and I said "Hey you guys" to a group of girls to ask a question. One of them turned around and using her rural southern accent asked "Excuse me, do we look like a group of guys to you? If you're gonna live here you have to learn to say y'all". I never made that mistake again, and I ended up taking the girl who thoroughly embarrassed me that day to the homecoming dance a couple months later........
