My 21 year old GE washer has gotten pretty noisy and the dryer has some issues also so I'm thinking of replacing them in the next month or so.
The new GE's that stack are larger in all dimensions so won't fit without some modifications to my closed space. The high end Miele and Bosch will easily fit but are much lower capacity. I don't see how you could fit a queen bed spread in them? Plus they are $$$$.
Speed Queen SF7 is almost the identical size as what I have but it's $$$$ too, as in $4,100.

I've heard mostly good (and a little negative) on Speed Queen but these are for their traditional full size separate units. One concern I have with all these new units including Speed Queen is the electronics or circuit board say if we get a power surge? Are people using surge protectors with these new appliances or do newer ons have built in protection? My old GE's of course just utilize mechanical dials.

At this point I'm leaning toward the SF7 but I haven't looked at LG, or Whirlpool yet. Any thoughts?

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.
