If the show is beyond a single-season, its NOT a mini-series.

The Spy, Band of Brothers, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Unorthodox, Epstein: Filthy Rich - mini-series

Poldark, Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, Longmire, Ozark, Dark - NOT a mini-series. Those are regular series as they're multi-seasonal.

The wife and I have been enjoying Poldark, seems to be on Prime. Justified is my favorite this decade. Breaking Bad is great.

Whatever anyone suggests, go to google and type "where to watch 'XXX'". It usually points you in the right direction

ETA: XXX is fill in the blank. I don't want you directed toward anything, um, untoward

Scratch F1: DTS off the list, it's 2 seasons now. Razz

Fargo, the TV series is excellent, only watched the first two seasons. Very dark comedy sporadically mixed with crime/drama, much like the film. The seasons (ten episodes ea.) have some overlap of details and story, but essentially they are mini-series of sorts, each season with a separate dedicated cast, storyline, timeline, etc. Coen Bros are executive producers, and their influence is prominent throughout. First season with Billy Bob Thornton was awesome, along with the second one with Ted Danson, Patrick Wilson, Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad). The new 4th season is delayed because of the Wuhan Flu, but stars Chris Rock and Tim Olyphant.

I do not watch much tv, but my wife and kiddos are hooked on “The Vampire Diaries”.

The only comment I can make is that the casting department has a pretty good eye for very attractive talent.

Apparently. According to Merriam-Webster, a mini-series is: "a television production of a story presented in sequential episodes".

So it seems to me any of these Netflix/Prime/etc series qualify. The definition does not rule out a story spanning multiple "seasons", as long as it is a continuing story.

Probably dating myself a little here, but: "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy". I prefer the original (Alec Guinness) but the Gary Oldman remake is reasonably good too. Also, if you can find it, the follow-on "Smiley's People" (also Guinness).

Yellowstone is a big favorite.
Warnings for language sex booze and killing, and a pretty hefty dose of each.
if that bothers you skip it, if not, hold on tight for a masterpiece

No, come on. We all know, or should know, what the OP means by mini-series. He gave perfect examples in Chernobyl and Waco. It is one season with a few episodes that has a very specific plot with a beginning and a very definitive end.

Another good example might be Manhunt: Unabomber.
