My beagle Emma is most likely passing today. I know all dogs go to Heaven, but I am worried how my children are going to take it. I have a 16 year old daughter and a 4 year old boy. I'm asking for prayers so that my children will be comforted while losing a member of the family. I know it's part of life and you can't hide these things from your children, but I know prayer will lessen the grief.
I am very sorry. Having gone through this multiple times and very recently it is very tough for the entire family, not just the kids. Prayers for you all and Emma too. It really, really hurts. There is no way around it. Just hold them and assure them things will get better. And that Emma will always be in their hearts.
Prayed He will comfort your whole family. We are dog people and love our dogs as members of our family so we can understand the heartbreak that comes with losing one.

Sorry to hear that, it's a difficult time for everyone, I remember my dad taking our Bassett to be put down and not telling my brother or I about it. So we didn't get to say goodbye and it really upset me, of course mom stepped in and explained how hard it was on him as well, but still to this day, I remember being told post event and while it's 40 plus years ago it still lingers.
Since they will obviously know about it, let them say goodbye, they will be upset and you will too, imagine you may be surprised how they handle it, see what they want to do, it's the normal cycle of life.
