Beats me, my birds give me theirs as long as I feed them.

Pretty much since the pandemic started, I see this from time to time. In what few cartons were left, up to a third of the eggs were broken.

wolfe 21Store is $5/dozen, but a local farmer is selling @$2.50/dozen for brown eggs if you save the cartons. I don't eat eggs, but I know as the farmer is a friend.
A Perpetual Disappointment...

1967GoatDenver metro area and I can't find eggs cheaper than $7 per dozen. The Democrats passed a law in 2020, starting January 1, 2025 all eggs sold in Colorado must be "cage free".

According to the state law, each hen is entitled to 1.5 square feet of open floor space with unfettered access to perches and other vertical spaces.

tsmccullPicked up 2 dozen large “cage free” eggs at Samsclub for $8.24 a couple days ago. Prices at local Kroger almost the same - $4.29 per dozen.

rat2306Went for eggs yesterday afternoon (and milk, bread, etc.). I normally buy X brand brown eggs, (usually $4.59 a dozen) but all they had were the store brand white ones. They've had the Egg Beaters liquid eggs on sale forever at two for $7.00 a carton. Went with that.
Fairly low inventory of eggs in general.

vinnybassContainers of two-dozen at Sam's Club were eight bucks and change last week. So four bucks and change per dozen.
Limit of two containers.
They also had the five-dozen boxes, as well, but I didn't check the price.
Also a limit of two boxes.

TMatsFor years we had an egg lady. She moved away and fortunately found another almost immediately. She was a Mennonite who cleaned her eggs and delivered to our door, then their church decided it was time to expand. They sent her and her family to Kansas to build another church community.
We were spoiled, always having fresh eggs from free range chickens. “Free range” or “pasture raised” is the only way to approximate farm fresh eggs. “Cage free” is still factory farming and the birds are in horrific conditions. We’re paying $6.50 - $7.00/dozen, occasionally more. They were certainly much cheaper before.

bertoThere are few to be found. I came across some at Target so I bought a dozen for I think $5. Costco and Trader Joe’s haven’t had any for weeks.

No complaints about the price. But my local Whole Foods Foods store offers a delicious egg salad in its deli section. But that was missing for four straight weeks.
Thankfully it reappeared about a week ago. I mix in French’s Dijon Mustard and Cholula Green Pepper hot sauce. Sooo good!
I like to mix-in some curry powder to an egg salad, gives it a new dimension.

Definitely noticed, if you get in there before 1pm, good chance they'll have eggs; at least that's the case for the stores I go to. Go in late afternoon or, after work, sold-out. $7.69/24-count at Costco here.

PASigEggs were $0.89 to $1.20 a dozen at our local Aldi until just a few years ago. I asked the wife what they were now and she said they are around $4.50 a dozen now there. It's crazy.
My retired Dad raises chickens in his backyard now for eggs and has given us some here and there, I'm going to start getting them from him going forward.

captain127Timely post. My wife asked me to stop and buy a few things on the way home from work today, eggs among them. I was wondering why the egg section was so limited in selection, and the only thing left was the higher priced “free range” and “cage free” varieties at near $7 a dozen.

hudr$5 / 18 count. Guy at work. I bring the cartons and eggshells back to him.
I know this sounds like a flex, but I rarely go to the grocery store.
Eggs from work buddy.
Beef from neighbor.
My calves got to the sale barn (because I’m lazy)

chbibcA friend of mine here in town has chickens and sells eggs. I get them from her for $3.00 a dozen.
And boy are the libs hyper fixating on the cost of eggs!

Same exactly here as of yesterday- your choice between white or brown variety. As I eat 4-5 every single day, you can imagine we make frequent stops at the store.

lymanI don't recall the price, (wanna say 2x's normal) at Aldi's last week, but there was a limit of 2 dozen
was in Food Lion yesterday am, did not look at eggs, but they had signs up at the front about limited availability,
we got ours from the local big farmers market, from a guy a few counties south, for 5-6$ a dozen, all farm (as in the chickens roam) raised
