Bib overalls
Any of you old guys wear them? No hassels with belts or add on suspenders. Look to be quite comfortable. Never tried them but at 78 I'm seriously considering getting a pair. Thoughts?

How do you carry a pistol with those?

I've never been a fan of them myself.

I wore them all the time when I was working in the family lumber yard. They handle tool belts very well. ( Tool belts like to pull your pants down Frown ). I'd give a pair a shot and see how you like them.

Bald One - have 3 pair currently, two older, better quality, tan Carhartts, and a newer, lighter weight denim Carhartt. My go to work clothes for my small farm. Just like them, and comfortable for me to work in.
As to carrying a firearm, I keep a shotgun in the Gator. If there are snakes and other varmints out(like now), a 22WMR with snake shot in a shoulder holster may be on me, especially if I’m on a mower, working with tools, etc.

J Frame S&W or small automatic in pocket holster.

I have worn them for years. I used to buy Penney's Big Mac but they stopped selling work clothes. Now I just buy whatever brand I can find locally.

Order the waist size 4” larger and inseam 2” shorter than your pants size.

Sorry I wasn't all that clear. I'm retired and don't live on a farm. I'm talking infrequent out and abouts. I see old guys wearing sweatpants and hospital scrub pants but keys, wallet, phone etc. tucks at them trying to keep them up. Seems to me bibs would be a better alternative.

No one has mentioned them in this context. Old farts out and about. LOL So.....?

Comparable would be coveralls, which I'd be more comfortable in. All cotton please. Denim or khaki material.

Absolutely try them on first, be prepared for them to shrink, my Key brand sure do. Now granted mine are the full coverage overalls, the materiel sure seems the same. I’m a Hickory stripe kinda guy, but I’m under trucks or in a barn.

I like bib overalls. I've got several pairs, all of them are Carhartt. A couple of pairs are lined and are super nice if I need to go out in the cold and snow or for hunting. All the others are the regular washed denim style.

To be honest, I don't wear them a lot, mostly when I just feel like it. Oh, I do have a really old pair of Dickies that are super faded, and the denim is thin so they are nice in the summer months.

You should try them on first. I generally wear a size 34-30 but all my bibs are 36-30 as you really need the extra crotch room.

This is one of those threads where pictures should be required.

Bibs are the only thing I ever saw my dad in.

I've always wanted to wear them , but
They accentuate the belly region way too much.

I'd look like a hot air balloon with a head.

Bibs are to men what spandex is to ladies

More people wear them then. ought to.

I love mine. Great over insulating underwear here in the Frozen North. As for pistol carry, I took mine to a seamstress and had her sew blue jean belt loops onto mine. They handle a 1,5-inch gun belt just fine. They are sized differently than standard jeans so try before you buy.

If you wear them for work/working around the house, farm, etc., they are a nice option. If you are going to get them for going out or the like, to me, it sounds like giving up. Of course as I am getting older, I don't care what some people think or say anymore but limiting my ccw option with them would stop me from getting some.

I have a pair of Carhartt insulated bib overalls. Years ago they were marked down to $20 in the Spring, bought them.

I just wore them a week ago, it’s usually for cold weather firewood cutting. They are a little more snug with the fit now but still workable.

Back when I used to work, my employer paid for our work uniforms, including bibs made by Oshkosh. I liked that brand.

I had a pair that I used for carpentry and yard work 20 years ago. I was slim, in good shape, and could both bend, get down, and get up.

Now I am none of those things, and I would look like a denim grape.

Still like the concept; if I ever get thin again, I will likely have a pair. Can't be beat for carpentry/woodwork/firewood, etc.
