Staring back from the abyss

| Just did mine an hour ago with WD40 lithium. Should be good for a year or so.

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.
| I use white lithium.

Just for the hell of it

| As others have side white lithium is the standard for car hinges. If they are dirty have grim on them clean then first. WD-40 is good for old grease and stuff off hinge then white lithium.

Great product and it comes in a spray can with the little red tube. Just for the sake of it, WD40 is not a lubricant. It will not do anything for high friction metal parts. Get some damn grease...savvy ? |

His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm.

| A quick, non-exhaustive search didn't turn any up, but there are or used to be sticks of grease, like a grease pencil, for door hinges. Barring that, spray white lithium grease. If your door hold-open detents have a plastic roller and this roller is broken or missing, no amount of lube will permanently fix it.

I learn something new every day! WD-40 stands for Water Displacement 40 (fortieth formula they tried I guess), and it isn't a very good lube, seems to work best to attract grit. However, apparently the company that came up with WD-40 also sells aerosol white lithium grease under the same brand name. Go figure! |
