I hired my teenage grandson and one of his buds to clean out my attic . I've been wanting to do it for months but always found a reason to put it off . Good thing . I had no idea there was that much crap up there . I hauled 2 pickup loads to my son's shop and threw it in the dumpster . Glad I got that taken care of and the boys appreciated the cash .

Sound like a good way to infuse cash into the local market! Regards From Sunny Tucson, SigFan NRA Life - IDPA - USCCA - GOA - JPFO - ACLDN - SAF - AZCDL - ASA "Faith isn't believing that God can; it's knowing that He will." (From a sign on a church in Nicholasville, Kentucky)

Yes, sadly much of the stuff can be of little interest to ‘most’ grandkids.

Hands down, I'm a hoarder. I've got so much plumbing stuff, that at 63 I've come to realize that I need to start getting rid of some of it. 2 garages and a 30' x 40'shop, problem is I always may find a use for it. I'm getting better as I get older, but there is a long way to go! I don't want to leave it for others to get rid of!! _________________________________________________ "Once abolish the God, and the Government becomes the God." --- G.K. Chesterton

I've been getting rid of stuff I'll never use, lots from when I hoarded while living in MD, and that was 19 years ago. I've been going through stuff the past 3 years (lots of tool duplicates or no longer useful to me). Karmas work well for stuff people might want. I am still fighting the urge to hoard even more. When in doubt, mumble

I don't know if I am a hoarder or not but I sure have accumulated a lot of stuff over my lifetime. My problem is that I sometimes forget what all I have. For example, a few months back I could not find my caliper I use for reloading. Looked all over but no luck and decided my granddaughter must have found it and then she lost it. So I bought another one at a gun show. Sure enough, about a week ago I was going through a box in the basement and there were two of them, brand new, in the box I had completely forgot about. How pathetic is that. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

There is some truth to the saying that every now and then, you should drag everything out in the yard. Make two piles. One to throw away. One to burn.

timely thread, I was looking thru my reloading stuff to find some thing to help out a friend and realized I had dies for calibers I will likely never shoot, much less buy a rifle or handgun for,, time to put them on ebay ,, and I need to go thru the brass pile as well https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Well , back in 2016 we had a horrible flood here . 49 inches of water in my house . I lost nearly everything that was in my garage . That pretty much cured my hoarding problem . EXCEPT for the attic . I really was oblivious to the amount of stuff that was boxed up and tucked back into the shadows . If the day ever comes that we sell this place and move , I won't have that headache to deal with .

My last "Great Purge" was the basement. We decided to disinfect and paint the basement and turn it into an actual living space. Before I put things back into my backroom work area it was time to only put back what I use. Two trips to the Transfer Station with all that crap. I don't want anyone to have to go through what I did when I cleared out my Dad's "stuff" after he passed.

Dealing with an ongoing discussion about too much stuff right now. My wife has several thousand books in boxes in our "new" house. She had twice the number, but we cleaned house when we moved two years ago. When we bought the old house I was younger and more fit. I put in 47 feet of shelving, 9 shelvers high, to put them up. I recently contacted a contractor. Enough shelves in maple, mounted to the walls, will only cost about 53,000 dollars. She wants to go too Ikea. I want to go to Thrift Books. We shall see.

You are fortunate , The kids here in tiny town are so well off that they scoff at menial labor, No walk shoveling, no lawn mowing, gutter cleaning. I saw three cars full of high school kids riding around town , three years ago, in the fall. They would stop at old people's homes , all hop out and take all the leaves out to the curb, an then load up off to another yard full of leaves. I don't know if they had a roster or what. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first
