MIL moved in last year due to health issues. Taking good care of her and wondering what features we want for a fit band, more specifically a Samsung fit 3, if you are familiar with it or in general if you have faced the question with a loved one.

Not expecting her to learn to manipulate the watch, she’s 86 and as blonde as you can possibly imagine and then some.

Right now am looking at the Samsung, she has the fit 2 but barely knows how to turn it on and off.
Have read some threads where you guys discuss smart watches for the elderly or ill but too lazy to search and these are possibly outdated or unavailable in my neck of the woods.

Just because you can,
doesn't mean you should

If you have an Iphone, maybe an Apple watch and link it to your phone so you get the data and alerts.

Starting with Series 4, Apple Watch has fall detection. If the Watch wearer falls, a call will automatically be placed to 911 (in the U.S. -- is there an equivalent in Argentina?).

Additionally, anybody (everybody) who is designated as an Emergency Contact in the Contact list in the paired iPhone will be called.

BTDT. MIL was given an Apple watch for health reasons. Falls, heart issues, whatever. MIL cannot operate the watch. MIL cannot keep watch charged, reliably.

Looks like the Fit3 has heart rate alerts, fall detection, SOS calling, etc. I think you are at a point of simply buying one and hoping it adds a bit of peace as you do the Lord's work of taking care of the elderly.

Thank you.

Iphone not an option, they’re dangerously expensive (high risk of being mugged for it) and MIL is not capable of using the Fit2 we gave her years ago. She now wants something with bigger numbers - screen size - Not using any watch features by herself. She now moved in with us and we are looking at the upgrade and maybe the features for our ouwn peace of mind.

At 86, giving her something valuable is a risk once outside. The area is both safe and a preferred one to steal valuables.

Will go for the Fit3, she has a Samsung phone.

Spousal Unit wears an Apple Watch and iphone. Haven’t seen her using the watch features at all. Guess they’re not techie oriented.

Thank you all for the replies.
