the only fast food place that I tip at is the SuBwAy, here in tiny town.

because I know that their boss is a dick and a half.

they do a very good job, the place is always clean , and the food is always correct and just the way I like it.

I don't frequent fast food places very much but I have never seen this. I would never tip at McDonalds, that's the dumbest shit I have ever heard. This country has gone crazy with tipping...

Unless you're actually bringing me food at the table and cleaning up my dishes afterward, sorry...you're not getting a tip. If I grab a Starbuck's, I only get their brewed coffee. So I'm not about to give you a tip for doing your job and pouring coffee into a paper cup and putting a lid on it. Seems I don't get tipped for getting people from point A to point B safely...I think I'm providing more of a service than someone putting a hamburger in a bag, and that's if they get it correct. I never got tipped when I worked at McDonald's circa 1977-1979...not once.

Fast food tipping. Puuuleeeeze...GMAFB. Roll Eyes

THIS. Thank you. Anyone who has ever had a child in the ICU and used, or even lived at a RMH facility or used their services thanks you. While the did not have a House at Cleveland Metro-Health, they had a room that had free coffee, snacks, internet, comfy chairs, and was a great place to escape the hospital life for a few hours. Many local restaurants donate catering nearly every night of the week.

As for the OP's question. Sit down dinner, pizza delivery driver, buffet, and that's it.

I will tip for to go/pick up orders from an actual restaurant, although not as much had I eaten inside.

They still have a server that has to package the food and bag it up with all of the things that go along with it.

Recently I went to our local McDonalds which I haven't eaten at in a year or so (no reason, just hadn't stopped in). They now have big order screens an you use your credit card to pay, take a plastic number stand and go to a table. They bring the food out to you. I don't tip there, you dispose of your garbage and clean your own table when your done. I didn't mind standing in a line and waiting for them to give me my order.

If I have to stand in line and then I get my food and go sit down, and take my trash to the can.NO TIP.

If I go in somewhere and I sit, and the nice girl comes and takes my order and keeps my drink full, and then brings me my food....SHE and she alone gets a tip. (because she is working for much less than regular pay-like $2/hr + tips) otherwise those fucking morons at Mc D's or elsewhere are getting paid federal mandated MINIMUM wage and they can GF themselves.

why should I be asked for a tip when paying? Why is it expected?

Nothing wrong with asking.
It is up to you to say "yes".
That doesn't mean it is expected, IMO. Confused
