Out for my morning run at 5:45. The neighborhood next to mine was teeming with HCSO activities. Saw at least 8 of their SUVs, with lights flashing, guarding every which entrance. On the way back almost an hour later, they were still there, and this time with the assistance of a chopper overhead. I was briefly worried that the chopper mistook me for the thug. Big Grin Hope they catch whoever the real thug was.

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Maybe shine a blue laser at the helicopter so they know you support law enforcement. Smile

Or wave your pistol at them. Either would probably work.

There is always the old jog over there and walk up to the deputy who is the most intensely focused on the situation and say "hey, what's going on???"

On your way back almost an “HOUR” later - Oh my Q……

Were this me, my wife would have done one of three things - 1> notified family that I left her and was not coming back, 2> called the local hospitals to see if I was there, or 3> checked at the local donut shop that was one block away to see if I was sitting these with a friend eating donuts and drinking coffee Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin…..

Maybe they were just handing out water bottles to wayward runners? Razz

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

When this happens in my area, I call the non-emergency number to find out "if there is anything I need to be concerned about?"

LCSO here is very good at telling residents who call in if it's a static situation (not a fugitive fuging across country), or a dynamic situation where the SO is tracking someone on the move.

This is how, on one occasion, I found out that they were tracking a guy across the farm fields with dogs and helicopters, and on another occasion that they had found a missing guy's bones under the new patio behind his ex-wife's house.

It's always good to know if the incident is someone on the move, so that you can be better prepared for unexpected guests.

"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

Alfred Hornik, Sunday, December 2, 1945 to his family, on his continuing duty to others for surviving WW II.

You'll never see me running at 5AM. I can't outrun the large furry animal so I might as well try to humor him into submission and dazzle it with my brilliant bedside manner, or perhaps share a pepsi.

I never found out anything about the car that was shot up in front of my home back around 1990. I did learn that they caught the shooter, but never what the issue was.

OK now that's interesting, was she still living there or did a new homeowners contractor find them putting in the new patio.....
