Green grass and high tides |
I know i ruffled a few feathers on the the latest "supply chain" thread. But we are already hearing things like my customers want to cancel orders or return product that they over ordered. That is as trucks are backing up at the dock full of stuff that we were told we better order because it was likely we would not be able to get it for who knows how long. And at prices that were excessively high. Uh, who would of thunk? I worked in an industry that every year there were supply issue's and you could count on the price going up due to demand while product was hard to get. This is another narrative feed by those wishing to cash in to a big degree. We'll see who gets to hold the bag. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I went into Jets Pizza last night. On the bulletproof Lexan heavy duty anti-whoohoofloo sneeze barrier was posted this large notice: Due to supply chain issues, some items on our menu may have changed. The shits real when my pizza is affected! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I have never seen more Stihl and husky chainsaws at any dealer i have ever been to than the last time (a week ago) I was at one ☺️ "Practice like you want to play in the game"

And it really gets real when they post a sign announcing: “Due to a shortage of supplies, we are substituting pineapple on your pizza in lieu of black olives.”

Seen it during the last panic over supplies. Poster were complaining they had to wait 8 months to get shipped, they would order from two other sources and then cancel the remainder after receiving one. First ship got the actual purchase. It doesn't fix anything. It's just rearranging the deck chairs. I've had walk in customers do the same at auto parts stores - went to 6 locations ordering the same part from the same warehouse that didn't have any. Product handlers see right thru that and won't order all 6. In fact, they may be getting ratio'd and can only receive what they had previously ordered the year before. The makers simply will not ship orders above and beyond what they can make - imagine that. They send you what you track as your normal buys and as time passes you will get them all. But not until. I'm hearing construction products are now suffering the same. Multiple orders for the same item and yet as time goes by half or more are cancelled as the first ones are received. Gaming the system isn't going to work, it's just fluff and buff to make customers think they are trying. As inflation increases it's going to take the edge off because buying necessities will soak up all the discretionary income. At that point supplies will equal declining demand.

The pizza place I usually order from has a new policy. They make orders every day until they run out of food for the day and then just close for the rest of the night. Not sure how long this will last or they will, but they have been in business for at least 35 years.

Supply chain management was how I earned my living. I'm so glad I'm not working now. The biggest problem is not getting the parts in; there's nothing that can be done about that. Everybody doesn't get paid if they don't do their role in bringing the part to you. The biggest problem is that the higher ups will want to see you doing something as if there is something you can do to bring the part in. I was bringing parts in from Europe by plane and sea at the start of Covid and air freight kept steadily increasing. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Can we make a sticky of this please? I'd wager more SF members are outraged by these shortages than by anything else in the country. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Sauerkraut. There is no sauerkraut available for the hot dogs. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

To all of you who are serving or have served our country, Thank You |
Yes that sucks, but a least for me there is NYC style pizzeria near me that still makes a magnificent Combo Pizza. What I do really really miss from Costco is their hot turkey provolone sandwich. Yeah this shortage stuff is real and it strikes home for me.

My Sam's Club has packets of Frank's Kraut for hotdogs. Guess you could put it on pizza too if you wanted.

I would expect inventory and credit issues to become a real issue in some industries - but the biggest challenge right now is human assets, which results in the shortages many of us are still seeing. My local bar/restaurant was closed on Saturday due to personnel shortages. Same thing with Dunks yesterday. The Omicron hysteria is not helping with matters either.

Oh, there's no shortage of sauerkraut in the grocery. I was referring to the small single serving of sauerkraut that used to be issued on request at the eat-it-there food court at Costco. Then currently do not offer sauerkraut, nor diced onions. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
