Knife Restoration Service?
Hey boys,

I found an old Puma Bowie knife when going through my late grandfather's stuff. It's a little beat up, and it looks like he may have used a cinderblock for a sharpening stone. I would really like to have the edge fixed & maybe the scratches all over the blade cleaned up, and I think it's beyond my ability.

Do we have any forum members/vendors who have a knife restoration service?

I remember seeing good things written here about him.

Albert used to post here from time to time. Assuming he's still in the business, he's who I would turn to.

Albert used to be a little hard to get ahold of, but he does have a good reputation for his work. I recommend him to a friend who took a good sized chunk out of the center part of chefs knife. Albert reshaped what was a 10" knife bound for the garbage into a really well balanced and razor sharp 8.5" blade. It was pretty impressive.

eta - he also is on Facebook if you're interested in seeing some pics of some more of his work.

If that is the same guy I think it is, he posted a thread requesting all types of knives to be sent to him for repair, he didn’t care about condition. This was maybe 5-8 years ago. I sent him a nice kitchen knife with the tip broken off. Amazing, it came back reshaped and wicked sharp. I still have that knife today.

I think it was more recent than that, maybe 2-3 years ago, and I think it was a different member. D something. Maybe Dsiets or Dtech, I forget. Wasn't Albert.
