BUT….
It better be enough gun!
Enough to make a bad guy *** in whatever mental and physical state *** stop what he’s doing quickly.
You want “immediate”?
Pick a shotgun or a rifle cartridge.
The situation-
More than likely (speaking from statistics) it’s going to be within 10 - 15 feet.
It’s going to happen in seconds. Sometimes you might see the bad guy coming, sometimes not. Sometimes the bad guy comes with friends. Sometimes they have guns way bigger than what you have in your pocket. Tell me THAT doesn’t change the situation!!!!
You’re with your wife, your kids, and older parent. Again, changing the situation- now you’re thinking about other people.
The gun, or “enough gun”-
Do you really want a .22 to be your only line of defense? On the other hand, I’ve seen a in-car camera from an incident about a dozen years ago where a bad guy took TWO high center mass hits from a .40 cal in a park. Bad guy ran over 100 yards after he was hit, still carrying the large knife before bad guy dropped dead. And a .40 caliber is a formidable round!
Yes, there’s places and climates here where toting around a P-226, 92F, or as slim as a 1911 or a BHP is, becomes a problem. So some are limited to a pocket rocket.
My advice is, do a little research about shootings and terminal ballistics. It’s an eye opener! I say this because some people have a weird expectation of what SHOULD happen versus what ACTUALLY happens. Whatever one decides on after that, a revolver, a semiautomatic, a sling shot: PRACTICE! Then when you get comfortable, PRACTICE some more.
For LEO's that absolutely makes a lot of sense, most of us, at least myself and others like me, we don't go looking for bad guys, and don't get into areas where we're likely to be accosted or surrounded by neer do wells, so the odds of having that level of bad guy drops significantly where a non high capacity full size carry with extra mags is absolutely necessary.
Imagine that 10+ Rounds of today's 380 self defense rounds should be plenty, and another 10 if I carry a spare mag, realize that you could get into a situation, church, school where more power is needed though. I'm comfortable that the odds are in my favor that would be a rare situation

https://www.desantisholster.co...YEAAYASAAEgIFY_D_BwEI have the Nemesis, Mag Packer and Ammo Nemesis.
I also have something like the Pocket Shot for my Seecamp.

Whoa!!!!
Im not advocating for ANYONE to go looking for trouble with any sort of pistol, especially a pocket gun!
That stuff is to get you OUT OF TROUBLE!
I was poised a question years ago by a friend who’s a pretty good instructor and has been on both ends of a gun far, far more times than I would ever want to be.
I also brought up the question here years ago-
“Tomorrow at 2:00pm, I am going to rob you at the corner gas station as you’re filling up. What gun are you bringing?”
It made me think.
Here you are, knowing the time and location of when it’s gonna go down, it takes some of the “surprise” out of it.
With that information given, is the gun you’re going to bring different than what’s in your waistband / pocket today?
Don’t get me wrong, if I got to make a quick trip to the gas station, store, going to the park in a pair of shorts and t shirt, yeah, Im probably slipping a .380 Ruger LCP or a Seecamp in the pocket. And I know it’s not “enough gun”.

Agree with this 100%, my smallest gun option is a S&W J frame (Model 38 Bodyguard) or a Glock 42. They serve as my "I'm not carrying a gun" gun role. Usually reserved to going to/from the golf course/driving range, yard work, maybe a gathering at our community's clubhouse or neighbor's house. I feel/think/believe that they are really "not enough" guns for any serous "social work" that might be needed. But it is what it is.
Running to the store - nope, put on pants/shorts with a belt and carry my WCV Gen 5 Glock 19 or grip reduces/stippled Gen 3 26.
I understand that some people, for some reasons, can't carry a "bigger" gun, but given the choice or option, I don't want a pocket or micro pistol.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

We agree, just saying that lots here are law enforcement, or retired, and part of the job is dealing with problem people in problem areas of the city/county.
For much of us, our normal days don't get into those higher risk environments, I consider it lucky, not that something bad can't happen and yes I might be under gunned, but at least with the Ruger LCP Max I'm covered...

I really like the Vedder Pocket Locker with the curve for both the BG 2.0 & the P365.

NismoI've been exclusively pocket carrying my Ruger LCP in a Nemesis holster for the last 3-4 years now.
I came from Appendix carrying a Glock 19 with light and Holosun.
I am aware of the trade off of not having "enough gun".

Definitely a pocket holster for a semi-auto. Dangerous without one. But I just drop a naked J frame into my Duluth Trading cargo pants or shorts. Hides very well and I can’t imagine what would cycle a 9-12 pound double action revolver.

Also better than calling a social worker. On speed dial of course.

Yeah, bad-guy may as well cancel Christmas!

Bulldog7972I watched the video and while I agree with some of the info presented and disagree with some of the info presented, for me, the smallest gun I will carry is a Glock 43 in an AIWB holster. That gun is so small and light that when I first bought it I found myself constantly checking myself to make sure it was still there because I thought it had fallen out of by trousers. Why carry a 380 when you can just as easily carry a 9mm? As far as carrying inside a pocket, the only time I do that is when I carry my G43 inside the pocket of my Carhart Arctic coat and that's only to buy me time until I can get to the big gun inside my waistband.

tleddyMy carry for many years has been a Colt Commander with hollow points and a spare mag. When it was too hot/inconvenient, I used a Model 638 Airweight: Modern alloy‑frame .38 Special +P J‑frame, “humpback” shrouded hammer with a semi‑bobbed spur, 5‑shot, about 14–15 oz empty; essentially the updated Bodyguard.
When asked what I carry going in to “bad areas”, my reply: I don’t go into bad areas… I am not law enforcement!
