After making the trip several times each year, our travels to Tuscaloosa appear to have come to an end. In addition to our two children, in the past 9 years, we have had two Nephews and a Niece graduate, and another who will graduate next year from The University of Alabama. 10 years ago, I do not think I could have pointed to Tuscaloosa on a map. Now it feels like a second home. We began in 2011, while visiting the University of Alabama with our Daughter, during her Junior year of High School. It ended this past weekend, when we moved our son to Nashville, where he will finish his Masters of Finance. The trips ranged from 7 hours and 40 minutes, to over 20 hours, I am going to miss the journey. To the people of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama, I want to thank you for being so friendly and welcoming. You folks are way more polite than many I encounter in the North. Great educational opportunities, great food, good times, friendly people and memories for a lifetime. Thank you. Roll Tide Roll!!! Niech Zyje P-220 Steve

Too bad they didn't attend Auburn University. Talk about some nice folks! Congrats on the children! You can still visit! I'm in North Alabama and couldn't imagine living anywhere else except maybe Montana. All the best! Regards, P.

I did a portrait of Gene Stallings and his son(for a book cover) at the 50 yard line on the football field. Everyone that I dealt with associated with the University was super kind and a pleasure to work with. Come to think of it, everyone in Tuscaloosa, was too. My wife and I often stopped there on our Atlanta/Dallas trips.

Congratulations! My favorite trip ever to Tuscaloosa was in 1984 when my Vanderbilt Commodores pulled off the only victory over the Crimson Tide that I remember. I was on the cheer squad, which made it even sweeter. Best wishes to your son in Nashville. It’s a great place to go to school. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

Huge congrats to you all! As an AL native, the third in family to go to Auburn, father of one who stayed there after graduating and a rabid fan of all things Auburn, sports, academic and otherwise I foresaw from the OP what the second post was likely to be. Sorry, we can't help ourselves. Glad your family had the experience they did, it's a pretty awesome state. UofA is a good school, probably better than AU for Finance and some other business programs so you chose well. Hell, I offered to actually pay for our Auburn grad to go there if she chose to, she just went a different direction. Don't be a stranger. You know you're thinking about retiring here, let me know when you're looking for ideas. You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Not as long a trip or as many years, our visits lead to Purdue in West Lafayette, IN. I always enjoyed going down, graduation was a year ago in May. He’s off working now, which is a good thing. I knew a guy back in my college days who was on the ‘7+ year plan’. If one hangs in college to long it’s time to get suspicious, and tighten the wallet.

Roll Tide! I second Georgeair's comments on the state and the rivalry. Even though I have been a lifelong Alabama fan, I came very close to going to Auburn for engineering. You can always go back for games!
