Friday I found I needed an air filter for a Kawasaki FR651V mower engine. Home Depot had them for $23 and I drive 15 miles. Amazon had them 2/$15 and they were on my doorstep today. It was the same deal on air filters for my Ridgeline, both cabin and engine. I'd surely hate to give up Amazon.

Homey don't play that game. When I went to a running store for gait analysis and fitting, I walked out with pair of shoes. I never even looked on-line to see what they would've cost. Didn't matter.

I still never have. I've purchased online, but never from Amazon. I want to see it, touch it, feel it, see the features before I buy.

What area of Va? I'm in Richmond and would stop in. I'm going to need a new pair of Altras soon.

Need to replace the rooftop antenna. Found something that looked like it should work well. Checked and found I could get it at Best Buy.

That was a couple months ago.

Now that I'm ready to buy: Headed off the BB site to see if one of the local stores stocked it. Gone. They don't carry it at all any more. In fact: Looks like they carry almost nothing in the way of outdoor antennas, now.

Placed the order with Amazon

Again.

I am an Amazon fan. I would but just about anything there just to avoid going to the store and dealing with crappy service, know nothing employees, and oblivious shoppers.

What they do, they do wonderfully.

I'm also an Amazon fan, as well. I use Prime shipping all the time and I feel that it's worth it at $99/year. After the recent announcement regarding increasing the yearly fee to $120 for Prime, I still think it's worth. I don't use Sirius XM radio anymore (sound compression sounds horrible), but I do find Amazon Music to be a wonderful added benefit, and I just stream via Bluetooth to my car speakers. My perspective has changed and I now look at it as $10/month for the music/video service AND I get the added benefit of Prime shipping.

I didn't know about the smile.amazon website; I'll use it from now on to support my chosen charities.

That is not even one of the reasons I shop at Amazon, much less an important one.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I usually find helpful people and get good service out of the whole gamut of local stores at which I shop. My recent experience at a Wilsons Leather store, detailed elsewhere here, is a prefect example. Turns out the product quality doesn't cut it, at least not IME, but the service has been top-notch. (All the more shame I won't be shopping there any more.)

I don't shop Amazon on price or service, but almost solely on availability. (Exception: When the local store wants two-to-four times what Amazon charges [*cough* CVS *cough*], well...)

I like Amazon. Amazon does very well by me. But my local stores employ my neighbours, pay local taxes and have stock I can put my hands on. I'll gladly pay something of a premium for that.

I just bought an Apple watch from Ronin1069 via the Classified section.

I'm not crazy about the rubber strap, I prefer leather or nylon.

Amazon price, about ten bucks. Walmart price, exact same strap, about twenty bucks.

I didn't think I'd like that rubber strap at all. Turned out I did. I like it just fine.

I received the watch Saturday. Wore it Saturday, Sunday, and today. I just don't like the way that the rubber strap feels. Don't hate it, but I prefer leather or nylon; both can be found on Amazon for around ten bucks.
