And just like most things tech wise, I am 10 years behind. Just learnt how its done. A friend showed me and its been there all along. Just one little question remains. What if I get in one of those I cant shut up moods? Big Grin. I have a new power. I may become a wild and swinging text God.

Best use I ever found for it was telling a totally deaf patient what our plans for her medical care were. I could dictate a long description and she could nod her head yes or no.
Staff loved it because she no longer was yelling at 10 dB in the exam room.

If I double tap the function key (you can set your own trigger) on my MacBook Pro it starts up to listen and type for you.

And it does actually try to learn your voice and mannerisms (David's Kentucky windage) over time to some extent via you making manual corrections. IF you are consistent with your particular mannerisms etc it is supposed to learn them.

But yea... proof read! Always.

This. My girlfiend uses text to speech and it's like the computer is trying its hardest to insert as many homonyms as robotically possible.

If you have an Apple device, give drag texting a try. It’s pretty amazing how accurate spelling is with this method compared to finger pecking. Almost uncanny- it’s extremely intuitive. And it’s certainly faster once you get the hang of it, and I find there are fewer misspellings and auto-corrects. But as above, spell check. For the love of god...

That is pretty sharp thinking right there. Just like I receantly learned from a elderly man, he was listening to music with blue tooth hearing aids. I thought to myself, my hearing is not so good any more. Time comes for hearing aids, I will be pleased to wear them and enjoy some music. If that type of aid had been made a few decades back, grumpy old folks wouldnt have been so negative about wearing a hearing aid.
