So Sam's Club is selling ground Prime Rib for use in making burgers. I think they saw that the American Wagyu Burgers that were going to be sold by Arby's over the course of 2 months sold out in a couple of weeks so they're going to jump on the bandwagon.

While ground Prime Rib isn't American Wagyu, it's going to be pretty close to it in texture and taste.

I think I'd rather eat prime grade rib roast as a roast rather then burger.

That being said, I'd be curious about a rib cap based burger. Then again, I'd prefer to just have grilled rib cap over ground rib cap. Smile

The wagyu burgers - are they using choice cuts like ribeye? Or cheaper cuts like chuck or loin?

I think I'd rather have prime grade ribeye burgers over wagyu (cheap cut) burgers.

I use Kansas City brisket-blended ground beef for the grill. Made tacos with it last night. Pretty yummy stuff. Got 18#s on Saturday.

No idea what grade they are but I’d still rather have the steak.

Okay boys, no matter if you prefer a steak, IF you're going to have burger why not some good stuff.

If we're having people over and I want to impress, ground prime beef is expensive, but damn it always brings complements like "best burger I've ever had". Yeah you can make a great burger without the expense... but still, great meat, equals great food.

Agree the brisket blend patties that Creekstone Farms sell are the best.

The burger in the pic may be from prime rib but it’s not necessarily prime grade. I can’t imagine any butcher grinding high grade prime rib to sell for a lower price.

“Prime” in prime rib refers to the cut from the primal not the grade.

Their spare ribs are amazing as well… Plus I just bought a whole prime tenderloin that I need to cut up.

Were are you the one that suggested Creekstone in the first place?

Yes I have brought up Creekstone several times on this forum as I'm usually never disappointed with anything I get from them. Their chuck ribs are awesome as well but have yet to try one of their tenderloins.

That’s where we get our beef… Thank you for the suggestion.

That brisket beef burger blend is hard to find in stock. Not sure I want to talk to many people about it.

In a class called "Meat Science" at Cal Poly, we processed a nice fat heifer into retail cuts. Half went to a faculty member. The other half went into the grinder. Ribeyes, filets, new works, all in the grinder.
Some kids got lucky with their burgers at the student store shortly thereafter.

I have found these on sale along with with brisket/chuck combo burgers. The texture and flavor beats the hell out of regular 80/20 bulk grind. I have a Blackstone flat top and taking a tip from the Tony Romo beef commercial(he is funny) medium heat gets a nice crust on the outside with a nice pink juicy center.

Sam's also sells american wagyu burger in 3x 1lb vacpacks. Don't remember price, but it's less than these pre-patties I think.
It makes a very good burger.

The power of suggestion is just too strong.

Pan fried brisket blend burger patties.

Mixed in some smoked Carolina reaper sauce with ketchup for dipping. Mmmnnn. Smile

Absolutely.

I'm with ya.
One of the best burgers I ever had was from the trimming and leftover portion of a Wagyu Picanha.
Had no grinder so just put in my processor/blender and gently mixed it.
Nonetheless better cuts DO make better burgers too! Cool

Flash, we really like these. Have bought them several times and repackage and vacuum seal in packs of two and throw in the freezer. Both convenient and very good.

Great. I like good food, something I inherited from my Dad.

My son and I are usually game for trying stuff like this and the prime rib burgers were ok. They had a slightly different flavor but nothing significant. We tried the "American Wagyu" meat as well and it just seemed more greasy with a slight flavor difference. Would I try them again? Probably not but we like trying new options.
