New Ford Bronco
Bendable, You don’t really need to modify your trans or engine. One of my favorite memories off-roading was taking my uncle’s lifted Wrangler all over the Outer Banks. It had a stock 4 cylinder and a 5- speed manual and it did just fine on 35 inch tires. Big Grin (it had lots of suspension mods) I’m sure that old 4 banger was putting out way less power and torque than this new Bronco 4 banger.

That thing was wild. I tried to get it stuck in sand and failed. It just kept going, completely at home on the northern shores & trails of OBX. Cool

All the negative chatter on FB and blogs from Jeep owners tells me one thing... Ford nailed it from the specs and looks department.... if it performs like it looks, it's a winner..

Jeeps are cool, no doubt, owners are as loyal to them as HD owners are to the HD. When Indian was rebranded by Polaris and designed, engineered properly they took a lot of HD sales away. It's likely Bronco will do that too, just enough to get their attention, it will make Fiat improve it's Jeep product...

So it's good for Jeep owners as well, the V8 announcement is proof Jeep is watching...

You’re right HRK. The Wrangler FINALLY having a real competitor is good for both Ford fans as well as Jeep fans because now Jeep is going to have to step up and improve their product.

I see it as a win for everyone. Big Grin

No, my 2014 JKU has less than half that. And now that my wife finally has her own SUV, the Jeep gets driven way less.

After looking at these 65 photos:

This will be my next ride. And I have had 5 Jeeps over the last 27 years.

agree -- competition is ALWAYS beneficial...

question for the car guys -- would it be correct to say the units you see tearing up the track / dirt are 'pre-production' prototypes ?

In other words -- how closely will the 'assembly-line' versions be to the ones we see in the photos? I imagine pretty darn close but since they aren't 'mass produced' yet I wonder if there might be small changes / modifications possible...

my prediction is this will be a very popular vehicle

It's a win except for everyones wallets. It's insane how expensive most vehicles are the way I would buy them.

The 4Dr Bronco Base model starts at $28,500, not seriously expensive, now if you grab the top of the line model you can get it up into the $60s.

So many posts lamenting "no manual".

Just like the C8 Corvette...NO manual.

Because less than 10% of buyers actually want a manual. Thats why.

Why build something that less than 1 in ten will actually buy?

The manual crowd is very small and diminishing as we speak.

There is a 7 speed manual with an ultra low granny gear available with the turbo 4 cylinder motor.

Claims that there is room in the wheel wells for 35 inch tall tires, w/o fender or suspension modifications .

Question:
What trans and diff options will accommodate giant tires ?

35" tires are included with the Sasquatch option package. I believe this is available with both the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder motors as well as with both the automatic and manual transmissions.

Dana 44 diffs are cool, any one read about diff ratios ?

Are there 2 or three options?

I’m planning on the manual to keep the cost as low as possible. Depends on what the Sasquatch package costs ultimately .

Got on the site pretty easily this afternoon and reserved a Bronco 2dr manual base.

It’s a little weird that the washable interior is touted on a higher trim but not the base.

I just want the Sasquatch package but the floor drains and such would be nice. I’ll add stuff as I go.

The Sasquatch with the 35” tires and 7spd manual gets 4.7 gears in the axles.

I have to wait a couple years before I can call one of the 2-door Broncos my own but am really liking what I’ve been reading.

What I haven’t seen is what exterior colors are a available. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a 2005 LJ, and I love it's simplicity. But it's also a 15 year-old ride with the problems that come with that. I'm thinking I might like a base Bronco with that Sasquatch package. Just need to know if it can be towed 4 flat behind the RV.

Have to admit I am eating a bit of crow over here.
Ford surprised me and looks like they got it right.

Does look very nice, particularly in a 2 door.
