Great post, thanks. The real hero’s tend to be the quiet ones with respect to their accomplishments.

We laid my step-father to rest at Arlington last month. He was a career Navy man ending up with commands. Nobody ever knew but he was a highly decorated officer. Never mentioned his accomplishments EVER. It was kind of wonderful to find out.

His rifle is on display at the Marine Corps museum. Old high school friend is one of the curators there

I didn’t realize he lived so close to my wife and her kids while they lived in Eastern OR

A lot of great comments about him on the Elkhorn media FB page
